What is your favorite song to perform?
Right now, my favorite song to perform is “Inner Universe Reloaded”. I remade “Inner Universe” that Origa sang for the Ghost in the Shell animated series. When I first heard the song years ago, I fell in love with it. I wanted to sing something from an anime, challenge my language capabilities and just perform a song I fell in love with. It was a labor of love.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
The best advice I have been given is for me to be myself. No matter what or who people want me to be, be myself. And that is all I can and will be 100%.
What about your music is rebellious, unconventional, or unusual?
My music is unique because I had to create a genre for it. Since it is classical in nature, I had to form a genre around my voice that included all elements I love. I also perform as a techno human, which is strangely cool in itself.
Who are your top two favorite artists of all time? Why those artists?
My top two favorites of all time are Whitney Houston and Kenny Loggins. Whitney because of her spirit, her professionalism and her chops. She is what I aspire to rise to, as a lyricist, balladeer and stage presence. Kenny Loggins because I love how he has fun in his music. There are so many artists I love, but these two on vocality, tone, clarity of vocals and diction – make the listening experience something that touches your heart through what they do.
What draws you to your preferred genre?
What led me to it was that I am a classical singer. Whenever you hear my voice, you will definitely hear classical and operatic stylings and high notes. But I love electronica and EDM music. I love hip hop beats that truly get you feeling the music. It thrusts into your chest. I also love bomb bass lines that are so hard hitting your speakers shake. Any other elements I throw in will be the theme of the song, but those main elements are what are always in my music or I do my best to make sure they are present.
Are you creative in other disciplines?
I am. I paint and I write as well. I am always pushing the envelope of what I can do. I always ask in what ways I can be creative. I love to show myself to the world in a fun and imaginative ways.
If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?
It would be She: Who Cannot Be Tamed!
You are a new addition to a crayon box. What color would you be and why?
I am the gold fleck crayon they used to have. The classic gold. I am a classic in every way. I love singing jazz standards, I love the style from the 1920s to 1970s. I am a very classic person and sometimes you cannot replace something that is a classic.
What would be the perfect food to have cooked for you on a date night?
I love sushi. I would love to have a date night where we make different types of Japanese food, have friends over and enjoy ourselves.
Which is cooler? Dinosaurs or Dragons?
Dragons. They are hyper intelligent fire breathing creatures. Besides, being born in the year of the dragon, I have to be loyal to my dragons.
Which fictional character do you wish was real?
I wish Falkor was real from “The Neverending Story”. I could use a lucky dragon! Then we could go on many, many adventures together.
