VRWRK have revealed the acoustic video for ‘Hearts Beating In Sync’, recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall. This is taken from their ‘Insight’ EP that was released Friday 14th December.
Born in Brussels, based in London: Electronic trio VRWRK reflect on a life in music, mental health and creativity in the short documentary for their forthcoming EP.
After the promise, release and pressure of their 2017 debut album, On The Outside, sold out shows in Brussels and London, gigs at ADE, Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop, VRWRK needed time to think.
Last Christmas, the group took to a small sanctuary in the Sawmills Studios (home to albums by Oasis and The Stone Roses) in Cornwall, UK. A studio only accessible by boat – they went to, quite literally, the edge of the world. Away from synths and creative routine.
Working with a small core of friends, in the form of their live band members (Jens Paeyeneers & Gert Malfliet) and the Norwegian experimental composer Bendik Hagerup, Insight: Sawmills Acoustic Sessions reflects on a weekend of acoustic reinterpretations – not only on their burnt out mental states, but some of their favourite songs from their debut album.
The video (documented by London based Jed Darlington-Roberts and edited by VRWRK) that comes alongside the EP forms a creative expression around a moment in many artists’ career that is common-found, and perhaps a cautionary tale.
In collaboration with renowned Antwerp’s fashion brand Café Costume they are releasing a limited edition clothing line alongside the EP.
Both Matt and Jergan of VRWRK have a background in mental health (psychiatrist and psychologist) and are, alongside their partner Café Costume, donating all proceeds to Belgian based mental health association Te Gek!?.
