Genre-bending singer-songwriter Miu Haiti draws her eclectic musical influences from Pop and R&B with a Hip-Hop edge.

She was born and raised in Haiti but is now based in the United States. Music has always been in her blood, being the daughter of a saxophonist. Miu Haiti is a Renaissance woman – her versatile artistic expression is influenced by her love of fashion, makeup artistry, performing arts, and interior design. Her ability to compose music and sing in various languages (English, Creole, French, and Spanish) allows her to connect with a global audience and has driven collaborations with arrangers, talents, and artists from Saint Lucia, Puerto Rico, Tanzania, United States, Canada, France, and Haiti.

Miu Haiti has remained very prolific since the release of her debut album, “Unexpected,” in 2014. She has been featured in various media outlets. She has garnered a sizable fanbase with nearly 500,000 followers across social media platforms, and she has accumulated well over one million streams and views. Continuously evolving, 2022 saw the releases of her highly replayed song and music video, “In ‘Em Face,” and the first-ever self-produced single, “Real Ones.” Her 2022 catalog was just a glimpse of what is on the horizon for 2023.

Who inspired you to make music?

I would say it all started with my dad. Being a sax player, he would take me to rehearsals, songwriting sessions, recording sessions, and shows. The dream was born in me for real when I saw Michael Jackson perform live on TV. I thought to myself, this is what I wanna do, I wanna touch people like this.

If you could go open a show for any artist, who would it be?

I would absolutely love to open for Lizzo. I’m sure the atmosphere backstage and on the road would be amazing. That would be a beautiful experience!

What about your music is rebellious, unconventional, or unusual?

Everything! I sing in four languages. I don’t stick to one particular genre, and when I step away to look at the bigger picture, I realize that I predominantly talk about self-confidence and staying true to yourself against all odds.

What can we expect from you within the next 6 months? Are any releases planned? Future gigs?

I’m very excited for everyone to experience my upcoming EP as a whole. I felt very free when I was creating this project, and I can only hope that all the emotions translate to the listeners. As for tour dates, my team and I, we’re still working on my calendar. Stay in touch to find out more!

What is your current music project about?

My new single, ” Is This Love,” is freshly released along with a very well-suited music video. This song is inspired by my personal experience. I have been in a few situations where I had to ask myself this question. Canadian Artistic Director Ralph Leroy conceptualized the music video, and his vision was carried out by videographer Ryan J. Ardito. The music video was filmed in Purfek TV’s studio, and video director Storm provided the final touch.

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Unbreakable.

What would be a good theme song for your life?

I have to say: ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry.

If you could ask your future self-one question, what would it be?

Are we still cheap? Because, for today me, every purchase needs to be justified. I’m always asking myself, what’s my return on this investment?

As a kid were you ever frightened of a monster under the bed or in the cupboard?

Yes! I thought I saw a hand trying to strangle me in my bed. My parents got the place upside-down looking for the thing. But, in retrospect, I might have been watching “The Addams Family” at that time.

Which are cooler? Dinosaurs or Dragons?

Definitely dragons. Who doesn’t dream of being Khaleesi.
