With over 40 million video views online, and 350,000 followers, Joy has captured the attention of music fans around the globe who appreciate the way she melds traditional country and modern pop influences.

A seasoned performer, her impressive social media presence eventually led to a highly touted run on NBC’s The Voice, where she instantly turned all four chairs and was singled out by Rolling Stone as having one of the top 10 best blind auditions of all time – a testament to the hard work and dedication of someone who has been performing professionally since the age of five.

Casi began her music career touring the Midwest in the country opry circuit. After years of performing country classics, she was spotted and signed by Radio Disney at the age of 14. Shortly after, she took her music to Nashville, where she recorded at legendary RCA Studios.

Blake Shelton says of Casi Joy, “She has this electric energy when she’s on stage and has these unique things that she can do vocally. She’s an edgier version of a country artist. She’s old school but has a youthful energy about her. There’s no stopping Casi Joy.”

Have you always been interested in music? Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I want to do that!”?

I think I’ve always had an obsession with music. When I was little, I would lay on my bedroom floor playing songs on repeat until I wrote down all the lyrics in my notebook. I was fascinated with knowing every tiny sprinkle in songs and spent hours in my room dissecting them and performing in the mirror. I did the talent show in my hometown a couple times, and it was the second time, when I was ten, that I knew I had to keep being on stage. I was a pretty shy kid, but being in front of an audience, I somehow felt more comfortable than ever.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I like to write about things that I’m going through in my life, so my music is definitely honest! Sometimes that’s with humor and an uptempo jam, and other times I feel like expressing myself in a raw ballad.

What was your creative process like for your most recent single “Business of Breaking Up”?

I started this one with a piano riff and melody I was working on, and a few lyric lines for the chorus. I felt stuck, so I brought it to my co-writers Justin Klump and Lauryn Tauber. After quite a therapy session, we had a demo version I couldn’t stop listening to.

Who are your main musical influences?

I grew up singing Patsy Cline, Tanya Tucker, The Judds, all the greats! But I also listened to a ton of rock music if my dad controlled the radio, so I’m definitely influenced by Pat Benitar, Heart, etc. I’m so grateful for the eclectic music I was exposed to as a kid!

Throughout your music career have you learned any tips for dealing with writer’s block?

I’d say the main one is cowriting! I love writing by myself as well, but if I’m feeling really stuck, it helps so much to have another person’s perspective.

If we were to look at the artists you are listening to, who would be on your playlist?

Currently, it would be Tyler Childers, Taylor Swift, Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile, and Post Malone!

What are your plans for any future releases?

I’m currently working on an album, so definitely expect that in 2023! It’s been a long time comin’!

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Miles and Maybes

You are a new addition to a crayon box.  What colour would you be and why?

Sunrise Pink! I’m a pretty early riser, and with pink being my favorite color, I love when I get to start my day with a pink sunrise. I feel like you can’t have a bad day when it begins with everything being pink!

What makes you nostalgic?

Literally everything. I can find significance in any little trinket, which has made me a hoarder!

If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?

What should I have done differently along the way?

If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?

Spanish!
