Rexford is set to take listeners on an emotional odyssey with her debut EP, Clear My Heart. Based in Los Angeles, Rexford unveils a raw and authentic narrative, diving into themes of vulnerability, love, and self-discovery.
With six deeply personal tracks, Clear My Heart serves as a diary of emotions, where Rexford’s powerful lyrics offer a glimpse into her innermost thoughts and experiences. From the heartwarming reflections in “One Horse Town,” co-written and produced by Twin Shadow, to the emotionally resonant narrative of “Save You Back,” Rexford showcases her ability to craft soul-stirring melodies that resonate with audiences. Our personal favorite has to be “Are You Gonna Be a Man.” A music video for the song can be seen below.
“’Clear My Heart’ is a Polaroid of feelings and not an image of glamour. My EP is a collective of songs that truly came from my heart. I have found the beauty in the imperfect moments that shape us and leave scars that create who we are. I have found healing in looking in the mirror and sitting in silence with my inner child. I have found purpose in learning how to grow again in my late 20s; always healing, never healed.” – Rexford
The EP’s most personal track, “Meet You Again,” is inspired by Rexford’s own journey of experiencing a miscarriage. Through this song, she aims to challenge societal stigmas surrounding women’s reproductive health, fostering a narrative of empowerment and understanding. In tandem with the EP, she wrote, co-produced, and starred in her own short film entitled Rexford, featuring an all-original soundtrack made up of the songs on Clear My Heart. The film, set for release later this year, has already garnered critical acclaim, earning accolades such as “Best Women Short,” “Best Original Song,” and “Best Indie Short” at Indie Short Fest, solidifying Rexford’s position as an artist on the rise.
