Star Goes Nova finds meaning and inspiration in space, time, and thought, creating epic stories to match her epic sounds. She uses her 115 year old grand piano and sounds of space, like the Falcon 9 rocket or Hubble galaxy sonification. Her sonic manifestations are empathic spaces to stargaze, gather personal power or share thoughts from other worlds.
She just released “Moonlight Beat with Sonic Butterfly,” an epic cinematic EDM soundscape with a Medieval undertone. She combines her iconic electronic and synth sounds, her piano, and an instrument called Sonic Butterfly to create a fantastical world of an astronaut discovering an ancient castle on a distant moon.
Sonic Butterfly is a 26 string acoustic, chromatic, long-string harp. The strings are at minimum 60ft long and often strung over 200 feet long, and span out over the audience, transforming indoor and outdoor theaters, buildings, and natural environments into a stunning immersive musical instrument. The magnificent and rare instrument, of which there are only 3 in the world, was designed and is played by Andrea Brook. “It’s like being inside YoYo Ma’s cello,” says Star Goes Nova.
The collaboration of Sonic Butterfly and Star Goes Nova was just performed at the FASMA Festival in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with violinist Chris Murphy and San Miguel de Allende local musician and visual artist Tomas Joaquin Burkey Marambio.
