Slim Sly Slender is the Maryland-based singer-songwriter that bleeds creativity. His music is frisky, vibrantly eclectic pop-rock, brimming with earworm melodies, wry wit, literate flair, and playfully ironic. Formerly a visual artist who’s showcased his art in many exhibitions, Slim’s musical aesthetic takes shape through an array of styles, from rock to americana to pop rock and beyond.

His new single, “The One That Didn’t Walk Away,” is a funk rock meets brit pop rock song with a Beatles quality in the vocal layering and upbeat melody. It’s a song about a fictional pair of characters, the narrator being the one speaking to the ‘other’ about being the subject of an unrequited love.

“The ‘you’ that is the subject of song is nonspecific, much in the way of many 60’s pop ballads, and could represent an individual or perhaps be a more generic comment on commitment,” shares Slim. “I have a great appreciation for the singer songwriter pop rock style that came after the so-called british invasion. The simple story telling and catchy hooks of Van Morrison, Ray Davies and the Kinks, Colin Blunstone and the Zombies, et al. has always been one of my favorite musical genres and I ventured to create something in that vein with ‘The One That Didn’t Walk Away.’”

“The One That Didn’t Walk Away” comes from his upcoming album, Pay to Play, where he hopes his music will reach a broader audience. With songs like “The One That Didn’t Walk Away,” he just might.

I fell in love with music when I first picked up a guitar at age 8. When I played, my friends and family would smile and spill with joy over the music I played, even though it was never Grammy quality. While my music career never made it past high school, my love for music never waivered. I loved the feeling of bringing a smile to someone's face through music and wanted to keep that passion going. So, I took it upon myself to continue to support and promote artists by writing about their music. This way, I can support my personal passion for music and bring entertain and joy to others through music.  Outside my love for music, I do enjoy a good hike and being in the outdoors. My favorite place that I've hiked is in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. I love to travel too. I've been to Costa Rica, Vancouver, BC, and England, but the best place by far is Germany on Oktoberfest. I liken that experience to being in New Orleans on Mardi Gras. I like a good book now and then, but I'm more of a streaming fiend. I live for crime docuseries on Netflix, veterinary shows on National Geographic, and re-watching Scrubs on Hulu.
