Pieter is a music producer and DJ from the Netherlands. Currently he lives in The Hague, where his home studio is also based. He also owns his own record label, which is called “Infinity of Love”.

What is your creative process like?

It differs a lot. Mostly I start with making a melody and then add different sounds to the melody as I go along. I do tend to have a certain structure what I hold on to, but not holding myself to adds something on the creative side too. I like it also to be different because I want to make different new songs every time, I’m producing so I think the creative process should also be different sometimes.

What would you be doing right now if it weren’t for your music career?

I’d probably be doing sales and building my own business. I’d also write stories, paint, make pictures and/or make movies to substitute my music career and still be creative by making art.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Well, thats a lot. Marketing can be done on internet, shows can be done through internet and there are developing techniques that make that more realistic, there are NFT’s now and off course the big streaming services and much more. Music is more accessible through internet, and I feel like that’s the nice part of it.

What are your plans for any future releases?

Well, I’m releasing a song on the 26th of November called “Impala Lily” and after that I’ll probably release another single a month later, but I still have to plan that one. In future releases I wanna keep being new and challenging myself with different types of genres and include my own vocals more. All my music from now on is electronic and I tend to keep it that way in the future, but I would also like to experiment more with more acoustic music.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Difficult one. The fair answer is that I don’t deal with it. I almost never have a writing block and if I have one, I take a break and then go back to it. I also recognized that when I don’t know how to continue in a song I just do really random stuff within my music program with different instruments and that also works in a creative way to continue for me.

What is the most useless talent you have?

I can touch my nose with my tongue. It’s not only useless but it’s also kind of gross.

What would be a good theme song for your life?

“Bob Marley – Don’t Worry Be Happy”

Which fictional character do you wish was real?

Spongebob. We have a lot of jelly fishes lately near the beach here and it would come in handy if he would pass by and go take the jellies out of the water or at least bring them somewhere else.

Are you a valuable asset on a Pub Quiz team?

Yes! I know a lot of random stuff that other people don’t know.

What’s your least favourite personality trait you like about yourself?

I tend to not care about a lot of things, I like it but sometimes it gets in the way.

The 26th of November Pieter released a new single called Impala Lily. Impala Lily is a flower which is common in Africa. The song contains lyrics where Africa is included.
