Fifteen-year-old singer/songwriter Madelyn Rose grew up in a small town in central New York. She started learning to play the piano at only the age of four on a used garage sale keyboard, and shortly after, she discovered her passion for music.
At 6 years old, she began dabbling with karaoke, singing along with a small guitar amp and microphone she received for her 6th birthday, then uploading the videos to YouTube with the help of her parents. Now, the Vere Music/ADA recording artist is eager to make her debut in country music. Releasing her debut single, “Taillights Fade” in January of 2023, Madelyn showcases her wisdom beyond her years and vocal range with the original track which holds themes of female-empowerment, and is one of many original songs she has co-written with the help of Lauryn Tauber and Justin Klump.
She’s influenced by country and pop powerhouse vocalists Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera to name a few, and has a stacked catalog of unreleased songs to come very soon. With new music on the way, exciting projects in the works, and an undeniable passion for the craft, Madelyn Rose is poised to have a momentous year ahead.
Have you always been interested in music? Was there a particular song/performance that made you say “Woah! I want to do that!”?
Thank you for this opportunity! Since day one, I have always been obsessed with country music for as long as I can remember. When I was a toddler, I would watch Jason Aldean music videos on my parent’s computer for hours. That interest in music led me to start playing piano when I was four, and then into singing a couple of years later. Most of Carrie Underwood’s songs/performances made me feel that I want to do that!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I try to be as relatable as possible to my listeners. When creating songs, I keep in mind all the music that has helped me through difficult times, and I wanted to give that to my fans.
What was your creative process like for “Taillights Fade”? Any fun stories you can share from the writing/recording process?
I was on zoom with my producer Justin Klump and another writer, Lauryn Tauber, and none of us really had any inspiration that day for what to write about. We took a few minutes to brainstorm, and Lauryn found a post on Instagram about watching taillights fading and the feeling it gives you. I had recently been writing about a break-up, so we decided to combine the two ideas. The game changer was how we turned the taillights fading idea into a positive thing for the singer and listener.
What was the experience like of getting to shoot the music video for the song? Since this was your first music video were there any nerves going into the shoot or were you excited to get on set and see the song come to life visually?
We recorded a couple of music videos in Nashville in September, and it really hit me when I got the completed music videos back from my director. I remember being more excited than nervous when filming, believe it or not! Having watched so many of my favorite artists’ music videos over the years, it’s very surreal seeing myself in one.
If we were to look at the artists you are listening to, who would be on your playlist?
Carrie Underwood, Carly Pearce, Morgan Wallen, Maren Morris, and Kelsea Ballerini!
What are your plans for any future releases?
I am currently working on a release for the end of March. I am hopeful to be working on a bigger project by the summer of 2023!
If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?
New beginnings.
You are a new addition to a crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Light blue, because it reminds me of water.
What makes you nostalgic?
Listening to 90’s pop music.
If you could ask your future self-one question, what would it be?
What’s the next step in my career?
If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?
Italian, it’s so pretty!
