What first got you into music?

My passion to pursue a professional career in the music industry was definitely influenced by the movie “School of Rock”. Immediately after watching the movie I wanted to play the drums and guitar and be a “rockstar” – my parents weren’t too thrilled with the idea of hearing drums banging and crashing throughout the house so we settled on guitar.

Where was your last song “For Now” recorded?

“For Now” was recorded at the world renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN. I’ve been lucky and fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to record there on multiple occasions – it’s truly a humbling experience to record in the same space as some of the greatest artists and bands of today and of all time.

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

If I could open a show for any Country artist, it’d have to be Morgan Wallen. If I could open a show for any non-Country artist, it’d have to be Russ.

Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

I’ve performed mostly in Ontario but my favourite venue that I’ve had the privilege to take the stage at would be The KEE to Bala opening for Chad Brownlee. I can’t think of any specific least favourite venues but anywhere that’s schedule requires driving through rush hour traffic would be the least favourite by default. I actually just performed last week at an amazing venue called The Gibson Centre in Alliston, ON and later this Summer I’ll be in Oshawa & Pickering for a couple of shows.

What was the most interesting experience you had while performing in Netflix’s “Full Out 2: You Got This!”?

Just getting to the set was a wild journey in itself – I was flying out to Oklahoma and I nearly didn’t make it to set on time. First, the airport’s passport security system for international travellers went down – next our flight was stalled on the runway for several hours. We ended up missing our connecting flight because of the runway delay. After 1 hour of sleep stranded in Chicago, it was straight back to the airport to take 2 more connecting flights – first to Texas and then to Oklahoma. Upon arriving in Oklahoma I found out that the airline had left my baggage in Chicago which was a major issue because my luggage had my movie wardrobe in it! We had no car and all the production assistants were busy on set because we had missed the scheduled arrival time – I had to run in flip flops along the highway to the nearest mall to get a new outfit for the movie just hours before my call time. Not to mention that it was nearly 100 degrees out and I was still wearing the same outfit from the previous day due to my lost baggage. Ended up making it to set on time and the filming went smoothly but talk about a hectic lead up.

What is the most useless talent you have?

It’s not only a useless talent but it’s gross too – I can spit ridiculously far. It’s disgusting but a habit I picked up playing baseball and hockey.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I used to sing in the shower often but nowadays not nearly as much. That being said, I’m still a big supporter of showers with music blasting. If you do catch me singing in the shower, it’d be anything that’s subconsciously stuck in my head which would usually be something from the radio or TikTok.

What’s your favourite board game?

I feel like I’m really late getting around to it but I’m currently hooked on Settlers of Catan. Got really into it last Summer and now I’m always down for a competitive game.

What would you bring along to an idyllic picnic?

A case of beer and Spikeball.. oh and food too.

What’s your most expensive piece of clothing?

It might be a hoodie I received through a brand sponsorship and honestly, it’s not expensive at all, I’m just not really into fashion or style. I opt for comfort and affordability over the brand name so I don’t spend too much on clothes.

Jason has delivered his latest single, “For Now” via Believe Music Canada/Flying Colours Music/Glacier Bay Entertainment. Recorded in Nashville’s world-renowned Blackbird Studios, the track is a country-pop anthem that weaves vulnerable lyricism into an emotionally heartfelt soundscape. “For Now” features deeply intimate vocals that are unapologetically honest complemented with memorable guitar-led melodies.

Written as a straight-from-the-heart letters to his ex-girlfriend, Maxwell’s trademark authenticity is on full display as the track explores the unravelling of his past relationship:

“Even though we had been broken up for a long time, I felt that things weren’t fully over between us,” Maxwell explains. “I loved her and still saw a future together. It was disheartening to realize that our relationship was really over and that she had moved on definitively,” he says.

The single follows Maxwell’s performance in the Netflix movie “Full Out 2: You Got This!” which also featured his single “Girls Like to Dance” on the official movie soundtrack.

“For Now” debuted on Apple Music’s “Country Lovin’” playlist, Amazon Music’s “Breakthrough Country” playlist, YouTube Music’s “The New Crop” playlist & Qub Musique’s “Nouveautés Country” playlist.
