Today we bring you an interview with actor Erik Fellows.

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do.

Well, hello Divine Magazine! Let me introduce myself. My name is Erik John Fellows. I was born on the East Coast in Silver Spring Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. I’m of Italian and Swedish descent but American-born! I’m an only child & a mom’s boy!

I grew up with love for the game of basketball. I lived and breathed basketball all throughout my childhood and into my high school years where I played varsity as a starting point guard, and as I was going into my senior year, I was being recruited to play semi-pro ball overseas in Italy, where I have family as well on my mother’s side. But things took a drastic turn when I suffered a bad tear in my ankle during a summer league game right before the senior school year had started, which hindered my eligibility to play for the next 6- 9 months, which definitely put an absolute damper on my chances to continue overseas that following year. That was a hard pill to swallow.

I later realized the change of path from my first love and passion ended up giving me a 2nd chance at finding another love and passion that has now been my life for the last 20 years. The one thing that I had told myself after getting injured, even though I actually had an opportunity to have rehabilitated my injury and still give my dream another shot, I decided that out of fear and insecurity that I wasn’t going to continue, and I walked away from the sport completely.

My senior year, right before I got injured, something caused me to change my career path. I had lived in NYC the year leading up to 9/11, in which I was there for the horrific day and tragedy. Soon after, I moved to Los Angeles to continue my path in the entertainment business and have now been here for 20 yrs going strong. I love sports, mainly basketball. I love to travel all over the world to destination beaches with my family, my fiancé, and my stepson. We love to try new things and adventures! I’m a big eater. I’m like a funnel for food! Hence the Italian in me. We were built to eat all around. I would just like to stay busy and entertain people and have a whole lot of fun in my life! That’s what this life is.

Give us some details about a typical day in the life of *YOU*

Let’s see; my day always seems to be filled with some sort of adventure, either mentally or physically. We are a pretty active family. So usually, I wake up normally about 7-8 am, take my stepson to school, head on over to Starbucks, get my Venti Vanilla Sweet Cream Coldbrew and Almond Croissant toasted, then head back to the house. If I have a busy day either with business calls/projects /auditions, etc. I try to take care of all that first and then enjoy the rest of the day. If I have that day free, usually we figure out what sort of day we want to have; to either just chill and watch movies/shopping / ride our electric bikes, maybe head to the beach, and grab some lunch somewhere. My fiancé can’t sit still, so she always seems to have something to occupy us. So, there is definitely never a dull moment in our household.

Do you have a motto or a mantra you apply to either work, life, or both?

Give everything you got into what love!

What trait do you think most benefits you in your line of work?

My hustle, persistence, and my perseverance.

What are your hidden inspiration sources? How do you generate new ideas?

I just pay attention to all the things or people, or situations around me constantly. I constantly research by watching tv series, films, reading and watching interviews and articles about the ones I truly respect as human beings and talents. I take pieces of information from all that and take from each of them that stand out to me and use those things when need be. I’m a person who likes to know information and ask questions; I want to learn something new every day if I can. Life and human beings, in general, are very intriguing, to say the least. I’m always so interested in understanding why we do and say and feel the way we do!

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Who is Erik Fellows, really.

If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

Well, over the years, I have gotten many different comparisons, from Ian Somerhalder to Adam Levine, Rob Lowe, John Stamos, Wes Bentley, and random others. But if I was to choose one of those, I would say the best man for the job, I believe, would be Wes Bentley, looks-wise and as an actor well, I think he has the Erik Fellows in him to pull it off. I would love to see him do it as well!

What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?

100% a nice big juicy steak, cooked medium-well.

If you were talking to a younger version of yourself, what advice would you give yourself?

Never allow yourself to believe anything but that you can and you will. The only thing or person that controls your outcome, in the end, is you. You can get 100 million NO’s.. and that’s fine, but it’s the yes that matters and only you can determine how you will get that YES! Let them tell you NO all they want; your job is to make sure they know plain and simple that you will get that yes!

What do you have going on in your career now?

Well, at the moment, I’m quite busy and am very grateful for it, especially with the world being in such disarray. During these last few years, I have become a machine with having to really step up and create far more than I did before. Now that I found inner motivation, I have realized what you can accomplish if you just do it!

As far as projects go, I’m excited for the 2nd season release of my critically acclaimed series Purgatory that premiered on September 16th on Popstar!TV. I have a handful of films coming out soon, such as the dark comedy Starf*cker, in the lead role of Jimmy Starr. And the romantic comedy Divorce Bait, in the role of Samuel Grey. Both are extremely funny and well-polished films that my team and I are very excited to get out to the world. I also have films like the Drama Zero Road and a Christmas movie Love is in Bel Air. I have a handful of projects in pre-production and in development. So this is Erik Fellows.
