Laila is catapulting into the pop scene with “Strangers at the Airport,” a reflective post-breakup anthem.

Having previously performed as one half of the duo Your Paris, this single marks Laila’s solo debut. With ‘Strangers at the Airport,’ Laila takes a bold step forward in her musical career, showcasing her undeniable talent as a songwriter and solo performer. The track is available on all streaming platforms this Friday, May 12th.

Laila’s new solo release is a powerful reflection of her personal journey towards healing and self-discovery. “Strangers at the Airport” is a captivating indie electro pop track that showcases Laila‘s heartfelt lyrics and velvety vocals. With the addition of a soulful saxophone, the song’s lush soundscape perfectly captures the moment of Laila’s emotional release as she finally finds clarity from her past relationship and surrenders to the healing power of closure.

“Strangers at the Airport” is Laila’s first song working with Toronto producer duo Jon Pike (BRDGS, “Dancing Without Music”), and Brandon Pero (Devon Cole, Emma Elena Grace). The subtle twang in Laila’s vocals adds a touch of authenticity to the track, making it a standout addition to any music lover’s playlist who has experienced heartbreak of their own and is looking for a powerful musical expression of their own emotional journey.

“Last year I saw my ex from afar, reading a book in the airport bar at LAX. It was a really weird and reflective moment for me. I told my producer Jon Pike about the experience, and he mentioned he’d always wanted to write a song called “Strangers at the Airport”. So we wrote this one together!” says Laila. “The song is about grappling with the realization that someone who was once your everything is now just a stranger (in an airport). We drew a lot of inspiration from one of my favourite bands, The 1975, for the production and sonic landscape.”

“Strangers at the Airport” was written by Laila Kharouba and Jon Pike, produced by Jon Pike and Brandon Pero, mixed by Brandon Pero, and mastered by Kristian Montano (Virginia to Vegas). Whether you’re looking for catharsis or simply a beautiful song to add to your playlist, “Strangers at the Airport” is a must-listen.
