Best Not Broken’s “I Don’t Belong” is a delightful pop rock anthem that captures the essence of nostalgia and the trials of high school life. The song’s crunching, radio-ready alt-rock guitars, and sugary harmony vocals create an irresistible and infectious sound that transports listeners back to the 1990s.

With clever lyricism and witty satire, “I Don’t Belong” tells the story of a high school student yearning to be a rock star but finding themselves as just an average guy. The song hilariously portrays the struggles of not fitting into any clique and the awkwardness of teenage years. The clever rhyme schemes and humorous scenarios make the track an entertaining and relatable journey down memory lane.

Beyond its humorous façade, the song also pays tribute to the dreams and aspirations of aspiring rock stars who never quite make it big but cherish their memories and experiences. It celebrates the journey of those who may not have fit in during high school but found their way in life.

Best Not Broken’s unique sound draws from various influences, blending Brit Pop, 1990s alt-rock, 1980s new wave, and a singer-songwriter sensibility to create a sound that resonates with fans of The Killers, Ed Sheeran, DNCE, and Imagine Dragons.

The quartet’s lineup, consisting of Eric Jackson on vocals and guitar, Mark Oswald on bass and vocals, Carlo Carluccio on drums and percussion, and Anand Shah on guitar, showcases their musical prowess and chemistry as a band. Since forming in 2012, they have released four EPs and numerous singles, and their active touring around the Northeast has earned them recognition and accolades. With an impressive list of opening acts for legendary rockers and contemporary chart-topping artists, Best Not Broken has proven their versatility and ability to captivate audiences of all backgrounds.

“I Don’t Belong” is a gem in Best Not Broken’s repertoire, offering a fun and nostalgic experience while delivering a relatable message of self-discovery and embracing one’s uniqueness.

I fell in love with music when I first picked up a guitar at age 8. When I played, my friends and family would smile and spill with joy over the music I played, even though it was never Grammy quality. While my music career never made it past high school, my love for music never waivered. I loved the feeling of bringing a smile to someone's face through music and wanted to keep that passion going. So, I took it upon myself to continue to support and promote artists by writing about their music. This way, I can support my personal passion for music and bring entertain and joy to others through music.  Outside my love for music, I do enjoy a good hike and being in the outdoors. My favorite place that I've hiked is in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. I love to travel too. I've been to Costa Rica, Vancouver, BC, and England, but the best place by far is Germany on Oktoberfest. I liken that experience to being in New Orleans on Mardi Gras. I like a good book now and then, but I'm more of a streaming fiend. I live for crime docuseries on Netflix, veterinary shows on National Geographic, and re-watching Scrubs on Hulu.
