Roniit, the self-proclaimed “Dark Queen,” has worked her magic for a stunningly beautiful reimagination to Crywolf’s “Foreign Tongues” Roniit marks the sixth remix from Crywolf’s OBLIVIØN [Reimagined] series, with more to follow. Her reimagination sees a very different side of “Foreign Tongues” one that focuses heavily on ethereal soundscapes, her music cradling you in a seemingly never-ending soul-searching mystery. The eerie electro-pop artist digs deep for her songs, capturing the spirits of listeners with a dark sensibility.
Roniit is a long-time friend and collaborator of Crywolf’s, working behind-the-scenes for the production of many of his photographs and videos. She incorporates her love for visual arts into her own music as an independent songwriter and vocalist. In “Foreign Tongues” she found herself inspired by Crywolf’s layered and climatic ending, which moved her to incorporate her own vocals in the interpretation. She explains: “I had such a cathartic release singing all these melodies and creating all the layers for the ending.”
In addition to the OBLIVIØN [Reimagined] series, Crywolf also recently announced a fan-fueled remix competition for “ULTRAVIOLENT” in collaboration with SKIO Music. The winner will receive an official release on Crywolf’s label Okami Records, as well as a plug-in bundle from Slate Digital, a Crywolf merch pack, and more. About Crywolf
Crywolf, otherwise known as Justin Taylor Phillips, is a producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles, CA. Constantly challenging the expectation that an artist must fit into one singular genre, he ruthlessly colors outside of the lines, carving his own musical path, leading to a unique and often indefinable sound. A full apocalyptic orchestra one moment, a lullaby whispered in the listener’s ear the next; Crywolf’s haunting vocals, abstract lyricism, atmospheric beats, and cinematic instrumentals could be the soundtrack to a lucid dream.
After releasing his 16-track album widow [OBLIVION pt. 1], Crywolf relocated to Bali to focus on creating part 2 of the widow album, slated for release later this year.
