What first got you into music?
For Tahla, she liked singing round home, then her mum booked her in for music lessons and eventually she started to grow a love for it from there. For Millie, it was her primary school choir where I started to find her passion for music, and for Maia it was ballet that led her to love music, then she started singing lessons. For The Dollys, we all competed in country music individually, which is where we found each other and decided to try out a group for the fun of it, but once we started to gain success from our group, we found out that we did actually have potential and really started to love our wee group and see how far we could take it.
Who would you most like to collaborate with, anyone?
We all have different answers for this one, haha! Tahla would like to collaborate with Chris Stapleton, Maia with Kameron Marlowe and Millie with Jenny Mitchell!
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
We can all agree that the Toyota Park stage in Tamworth and the MLT Gold Guitar stages are our favorite venues. Toyota stage because it’s the biggest stage and crowd we’ve ever done (but it was about 40 degree weather, extremely hot for us kiwis), and the Gold Guitar stage venue because we feel that’s where our biggest achievement started that really got us into the country music scene. Our least favorite venues are just anywhere with bad acoustics haha!! We have an upcoming Dollys concert on November 23rd at the Working Men’s Club as a fundraiser for us to head back to Tamworth 2025!
What is your favorite song to perform?
We all have different favorite songs to perform, Tahla’s is ‘Songbird’, Millie’s is ‘Little White Church’, and Maia’s is ‘Troubadour’. We like to make sure we always have these 3 in our bracket for performances!
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
We all love the fact that we get to perform/travel/sing with our closest friends, as well as providing beautiful entertainment to crowds, and also watching the emotion our harmonies can evoke from people.
