A unique, smooth sounding Texas country singer-songwriter, Copperhead Jones first started writing songs in 2012 while deployed with the United States Navy.
Living in various places throughout his adult life has given him the ability to write songs that cover not only the true feel of the country way of life but also the shine of the city lights atmosphere. Well rounded, deep thinking and heartfelt lyrics, along with his own unique sound, not only crafted the foundation for the album but also bridges the gap between any state line boundaries of music.
Copperhead Jones independently released his debut single, No One Givin’ Up in December 2021 followed by his debut 13 song album titled “Anchor” in September 2022.
Who inspired you to make music?
My mom and dad really inspired me to make music. Since I can remember we had music nights every weekend as a kid where we all took turns on my dad’s drumset and sang songs on the mic with my mom. Music was the glue in my family growing up.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
The music I typically create is heavily influenced by Outlaw country and southern rock as I grew up listening to old records of the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Hank Williams jr.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with Kaitlin Butts someday. Her voice is incredible and she has that bluesy outlaw country sound I love so much.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
I would love to open a show for Cody Johnson. He is the reason I even began to learn about Texas Country and Red Dirt music. He also is an amazing performer and showman.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
I honestly don’t think I would have much business without the internet. I use social media to connect to other musicians and network within the state of Texas. I have access to contact information for booking agencies and venues I otherwise would not have had. As a result of streaming services, people from all over the world have listened to my music and shared it with their friends and family. The short answer is that the internet has been extremely impactful to my music business.
What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?
The ideal food would be a smoked Prime Rib with broccolini and a twice baked potato. I got to have a glass or two of Merlot with dinner and a smoked old fashioned after dinner.
What would be a good theme song for your life?
“I’m in a hurry (and don’t know why)” by Alabama would be my theme song. I am always in a hurry to get to the future and the goals I’ve set for that future, but I know living in the present is much better. I’m still in a hurry though and I don’t know why.
What was the last TV series you watched on TV?
The last tv series I watched was the Yellowstone spin off “1883” and it was awesome!
What’s your least favorite personality trait you like about yourself?
I don’t like that I overthink everything in social situations but the older I get the more carefree I become.
If you were talking to a younger version of you, what advice would you give yourself?
Be more confident and forgiving of yourself. You will find peace and happiness when you give yourself a break now and then.
