After several years working in corporate NYC, singer-songwriter Blair West is debuting her first-ever EP single, a soulful and sweet ballad written in the depths of the pandemic 2020. The song, ‘All this to Say,’ is about “having your partner accept every part of you, not just the pretty pieces.” Blair recounts writing the song in her apartment bathroom, as the former studio she shared with her now-fiancé had no quiet place to play guitar.
‘All this to Say,’ is an uplifting yet tear-jerking love letter to her relationship, showcasing the singer’s natural talent for songwriting. With an anthemic guitar strum heard throughout the song, Blair’s ethereal vocals are complemented by celestial synths, heart-beat percussion, and emotive strings. ‘All this to Say’ begins with a haunting round of vocal harmonies, inspired by the song’s ever-so-slightly gospel melody, that the singer said came to her in a dream. The debut comes on the heels of the song’s YouTube success, with the acoustic version of ‘All this to Say’ at 10,000 views and climbing.
About Blair
Described as a child of Joni Mitchell, Jewel, and Taylor Swift, Blair West describes her sound as folk-pop with soul and indie influences. With fearless creativity, a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, and a New Yorker grit, Blair is a bubbly personality with a deep artist’s sensitivity.
Having written music since the age of five, Blair has a background in piano, guitar, musical theater, and (fun fact) was president of her college a-cappella group. Blair was urged to pursue music professionally but her dreams took a backseat when she moved to NYC and launched a successful career in journalism and marketing—earning Blair skills she puts to good use now. After several years of writing songs after long days in the office, Blair realized there was no passion stronger than her passion for music, and she finally decided to “go for it.” Since then, Blair has been performing around the East Coast, perfecting her musical skill and stage presence, and spending thousands of hours writing music and honing in on her unique sound.
