With a tongue-in-cheek name meant to pique the curiosity and a tenacious DIY approach, Black Suit Devil has been spreading inspiration and awareness through music since 2015. A solo project led by Singer/Songwriter Andy Du Rego of Toronto, Ontario whose style has been likened to that of Ray LaMontagne, Tom Waits, and Chris Cornell.
With his melodic and thought provoking songwriting inspired by the rock, folk, blue, soul and country genres, Andy continues to impress audiences with his signature raspy self-harmonizing dual vocal and passionate presence.

“The Eternal Sleep is a snapshot of where my mind was at the time when I wrote these songs in 2020 during the lockdowns. I was thinking a lot about everything going on in the world and where the future was heading with AI and politics and such. Also thinking about my personal life and all the different experiences I had over the years leading up to the album. The album is definitely darker and heavy in nature. The feelings I had during that time.”

The album has many lyrical themes both dark and beautiful, including isolation, mental health issues, depression, racial conflict and the growing number of suicides rates in our communities. The album also brings and theme of love and new beginnings.

The album’s focus track, “Shut The Punk Up,” pays tribute to all the hard work of being in the music business, life on the road, and extends appreciation for all his fans.

“Shut The Punk Up” is a road song about life as a touring independent musician,” Andy says of the focus track. “The good and the bad times . Living in your car and travelling to new places . I wanted to showcase some great people that I have met over the years on my travels, so I name dropped a few people and places. I wanted to give this song a live feel to it almost like a stadium of people chanting the song in unison . I had a lot of fun multi layering vocals to make it sound as though thousands of people are singing along. I also added so crowd noise to really drive it home. Definitely a really fun track that closes off the album perfectly.”

The Eternal Sleep is a must listen to any hard rock fans, especially shoe who appreciate a deeper meaning in their music. Black Suit Devil’s grit and passion shines through in every song.
