Morchella returns with follow up single: ‘Illuminate Your Senses”. A dark, indie /ethereal, driving track. From a lyrical standpoint – it’s a look at the darker themes of complex or extreme belief systems.
“People view the world in such different ways and a belief system is a fundamental part of the human experience. This is a topic that has always fascinated me” says the singer. “I wanted to explore just what it is that drives people to adopt extreme or dangerous viewpoints and the appeal / temptation behind them. This subject seems more relevant than ever today.
‘Illuminate Your Senses’ follows on from the single ‘Coat of Arms’ which received support from Wonderland, She Makes Music, The Tinnitist, That Buzzing Sound, Girl Underground Music, Cashbox Canada and more. The single was accompanied by stunning stop motion animation video by award winning director Isabel Garrett – Watch here.
Both songs feature on the upcoming ‘Woman of Now’ – EP which will be released November 30th. The EP was recorded at Hackney Road studios with Shuta Shinoda (Jehnny Beth, Hot Chip, Ghostpoet, Daughter) along with a very talented band. “This has been a long time in the making and I am excited to finally share it.”
Morchella is a London based musician, producer and multi-instrumentalist, drawing inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Weyes Blood, Sharon Van Etten and Bat for Lashes.
Born and raised in Ukraine in her early years and spending much of her childhood moving from county to country, Morchella’s early musical education was very rich and varied. From choirs to orchestras: she went on to teach herself piano and then guitar, which led to songwriting and eventually production. A few years back Morchella released ‘The Final Piece – EP’ (under previous moniker, Threepwood) which she wrote and produced. The EP was well received by blogs such as ‘The Line of Best Fit‘, and ‘Just Music That I Like’ (Hype Machine), as well as achieving BBC prime time TV usage.
