It’s easy to get caught in a rut. Some edge into it mindlessly. Others don’t know how to get out of it and some need a gentle push to help them move up a gear. You might want a change due to boredom, or maybe you can’t stand familiarity for too long. Whatever the reason, if you want to move on up with a skill, or a career, then you need to apply yourself. Nobody can do it for you. However, there is advice you can follow. Some will apply to you, some won’t. The trick is being able to pick out advice you know will work. People respond differently to certain types of advice. The tips below can help you if they don’t directly, then perhaps they can help change your perspective on your life and get other ideas percolating in your brain. Whatever your decision, remember, that if you’re not happy, you should try to do something about it and level up your life.
Further Your Study
One way to level up is to further your study in the field you have so far chosen. This can be for a myriad of reasons from wanting to further your career, to explore further study due to general interest in the field. There are many ways you can study these days, from a traditional place of study like Bradley University to learning online or studying at hours which suit you. It depends on how much time you want to give to studying. It can even be a couple of hours a week of self-study as you build yourself back up to a university course. You may need to cut back on a couple of hobbies or even shed some work hours. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself too fast. Give yourself some time to get used to studying again before plunging in with two feet. If it is to further your career at your current place of work you might be able to get them to help you with the costs and give you the right time to study. Be careful here though, they’ll likely believe that you should stay with them for a considerable time after they’ve paid you through study.
Go For That Promotion
Maybe you think it’s out of your grasp. Perhaps you don’t think you’re qualified. At some point, you just need to bite the bullet and go for it. Even if you don’t get it, you can get some quality feedback which can help you next time. Speak to your boss about how you want to move on up the ladder. See what they think. They might say you’re not ready and if so, ask what you need to do to be ready. Doing this will make you stick out of the crowd. Showing your willingness and highlighting what you want in the future. Make sure you put your best foot forward. Different places have different interview standards and procedures. Review them intently. Maybe you can ask a mentor or colleague who has been through it before to help you out and give you some pointers. Remember, failure is merely a step on the path to success. If you don’t get it this time, you might next.
Level Up Your Fitness
Getting fit is a great way to level up your life. You’ll have more energy, feel better about yourself, and have more confidence going forward. There are lots of ways for you to get fit too. If you’ve never thought about it before, start with going for longer and faster walks. If you’re a regular gym-goer, you need to mix it up a bit to hit your potential. If you lack motivation, go with a friend or even hire a personal trainer. If cardio exercise and the gym isn’t for you, then think about playing sports. You can go for single sports like tennis, or team sports. Team sports are also great for socializing and you can make new friends. Consider joining with some other friends to make the process a little easier. Try to pick out a league with a similar skill set. If you’re starting out, make sure you find the appropriate amateur league to go for. Cycling is another great way to get fit and get some fresh air. You can join cycle clubs if you want or just go it alone. You can also do it with your family for some key bonding and a way to get out of the house for a time.
