Folk singer-songwriter J Nicolás has just released his brand new single titled “Dark Days.” The song is a cathartic release for him, describing the certain connection that comes when you bond with someone over similar past experiences/traumas.
“Dark Days” carries a warm folk tone, characterized by soft acoustic guitar and a Bob Dylan-like harmonica break. Inspired by reflecting on past and current experiences in different relationships, Nicolás has created a tragically beautiful anthem that can be heard and understood by anyone.
“I got the idea for the song after reflecting on past and current relationships and the catharsis that can result in connecting with someone through suffering. Trauma bonding is considered unhealthy by many, but I believe there can be beauty and healing in it.” – J Nicolás
In this day and age, people are more comfortable than ever about mental health and destroying the stigma that surrounds it. Because of this, “Dark Days” will resonate with many people and help destroy that stigma even further. A fresh face to the folk scene, J Nicolás is an indie-rock veteran making new, empowering moves in his career. “Dark Days” is a preview into Nicolás sophomore album, A Rosary of Bone, destined to be a trailblazer in the indie-folk community due to its poetic and dark nature.
