Making the bold move from the harsh winters of Minnesota to the endless summers of America’s West Coast has certainly paid dividends for Zack King. The enormously talented guitarist and singer songwriter has been consistently releasing music since 2020, with his latest EP Bend But Don’t Break highlighting how far he has come.
Music has always been his salvation and provided the support he needed to get through the tough times. Originally writing alt-rock songs, it takes a journey to mold an artist and now he has unearthed his natural groove among the palm trees of Los Angeles. Beautifully crafted songs that show a distinct affinity with the iconic band All Time Low and artist Machine Gun Kelly, Zack delivers songs that trigger emotions deep within the soul. Working with former Red One producer Eric Sanicola and Mixer Trevor Muzzy, the solo artist displays a vulnerability and wears his heart on his sleeve with emotional vocals and a unique story-telling ability.
Migrating between pop rock with occasional punk influences, Zack creates hooks and melodies that are instantly recognizable and enduring. His lyrics are a poignant and powerful reminder that the path to a successful life is full of obstacles that need to be met head on.
With over 250K plays on Spotify alone, his reputation as an intricate, intelligent and inspired musician is growing day by day. More and more people are discovering his back catalogue which features an astounding album and countless singles. That legacy is only going to grow with 2022 delivering more memorable moments.
Finally feeling that he has found himself, Zack is not bound by the expectations of an industry that likes to put people in a box, and has now uncovered the freedom to express himself in ways previously unimagined. Heartfelt, authentic and true, that unshackling of his potential will see him come to the attention of audiences everywhere. Bringing his music to the American public, Zack will be embarking on a national tour where he will showcase all the new songs that are ready to see the light of day.
Whether it be in the warm embrace of his laidback songs or those that feature a more upbeat pop-rock tempo, Zack King is the artist that will reach inside your heart and let you know that you are alive.
When did you start writing music?
“Back in 2018, I graduated college with a business degree ready to work a 9-5 behind a cubicle for the rest of my life. I don’t know what happened exactly, but one day (a few months into my job) I realized this wasn’t who I was meant to be. I quit my day job and decided to pursue my true passion, music. Ever since that defining moment, I haven’t looked back. Writing about my personal experiences, mental health, and relationships were where I found true happiness and clarity. Not only in writing, but performing, and relating with my fans on a personal level. I love being able to find common stories and experiences with my fans, to create a bond, and not only that, help them with their mental health struggles. That’s the best part about music – building relationships and helping others. Fame has never mattered to me but finding ways to help others be the best (and happiest) versions of themselves.
Looking forward, I’ve decided to change the direction of my music career. Originally doing alternative rock music, I’ve now decided to dive into the pop-punk scene. I always listened to bands like Blink 182 and All Time Low growing up, and recently, have realized it’s where I want to go next with my music career.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
“Charlotte Sands. She has made a huge impact on the pop-punk scene, and I’ve always wanted to collaborate with another woman artist! I have a new song I’m working on and hoping I could get Charlotte to feature on the track!”
What is one message you would give to your fans?
“Don’t be so hard on yourself! Mental health has been a huge focus throughout my music career, so it’s important to remember to take time for yourself every day. Even if that’s 5 minutes to take deep breaths or go on walks – just remembering to check in with yourself is so important. What’s next for you?
“The biggest goal throughout these next 6-8 months is to release a full pop-punk album. Once that’s out I’ll start planning a tour! Additionally, I would like to connect with more fans who are passionate about my music and mental health. Once that’s out I’ll start planning a tour!”
Who are your main musical influences?
“Currently listening to artists like MGK and The Band CAMINO, I’ve tried to blend my two current favorite artists to create something unique, but with all the blends of the music I’m loving right now. My hope is to make my own imprint on the pop-punk world with this new sound.”
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
“Yes, all the time haha. I’ve been singing a lot of The Wldlfe and Mt. Joy recently. Both have released new music, so I’ve been streaming them on repeat! They’re not pop-punk artists, but two very talented groups.”
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
“For sure Hugh Jackman. I’ve been told I look a lot like a younger version of him, so I think it would be cool to have him play me in a movie! Maybe Wolverine could even make an appearance.”
Tell us what your ideal partner might look like if you could order one from ‘Partners R Us’.
“Someone that loves music, hiking, dogs, and good food! Also, someone that can tolerate my sarcasm!”
What’s your favorite board game?
“Whenever my friends and I get together, we play a lot of Catan. It’s a fun strategy game that will usually turn into a drinking game, knowing my friends.”
If you were talking to a younger version of you, what advice would you give yourself?
“Always pursue your dreams even if they seem impossible. Growing up, so many people told me what I couldn’t do. I wish they would have encouraged me instead. Follow your dreams – that’s when you’ll be happiest!”
September 7th, Zack released “What’s on your Mind?”, his brand new pop-punk song. This song is about being led on by someone you truly care about, not knowing where it all went wrong. This rebirth into pop-punk music has Zack excited for what’s to come next.”
