Tell us about your upcoming performance at Live at Scorrier House, what can we expect?
We’ll be performing some of our new songs from our latest album Blackest Blue, along with the Morcheeba classics like Blindfold, Trigger Hippie and The Sea https://www.liveatscorrierhouse.co.uk/
Who inspired you to make music?
I can’t really say that there was any one person that inspired me to make music. It just so happened that way. I couldn’t not make music.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
It’s been positive and negative. You can reach a wide audience through social media. But people aren’t so ready to pay for music. Plus it has taken away some of the mystic with everyone sharing everything.
Have you got a ritual of sorts when making music?
There are several different ways a song can start. There’s not really a ritual of sorts. I like to use words from random poems that I’ve written to start a lyric idea.
What are your top two favorite songs of all time? Why those songs?
Summertime by Gershwin. It’s a song that I absolutely love to sing, I never grow tired of it. I like to change the words to ‘your mama’s rich and your dad is good looking…’ I don’t have a 2nd favourite…
What was the last series you watched on TV?
Nine Perfect Strangers
What do you think the greatest invention has been?
CBD
Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions? Recently, I was given a small chunk of Amethyst stone by a dear friend and jewellery maker, Ken Brydon of Blue Rama. I’ve started to carry it with me and place next to bed.
If you could ask your future self one question, what would it be?
Hmm that depends on how far into the future we’re talking. Future me next week? Or futre me ten years from now?
If you had to describe yourself as a flavour, what would it be?
Cinnamon
