What first got you into music?
I started writing music in my Hardcore Band. It’s totally different but it’s what I got into when I was a kid. I used to go to local shows and see some great hardcore/punk bands and wanted to do that. Some of those bands now, I got to share the stage with and it’s really great to see them still playing together and doing great…. but yes going to local shows really got me wanting to be in a band!
When did you start writing music?
Playing Video Games, music is very impactful in games to keep you constantly engaged and depending on the game, the vibes are very different. It’s much like Composing in Movies as well. Hans Zimmer is a great example, he’s able to create moods whether it’s Pirates of the Caribbean vibes to the finale in Gladiator.
Who inspired you to make music?
Chris Cornell was the most influential, followed by Jerry Cantrell/Layne Staley in Alice in Chains.
What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon?
We are blending multiple genres together with video game vibes. Some sounds are retro, vibes are modern yet still have that familiar feeling. Blending these genres is really fun, and even though I’m a solo artist, I really enjoy getting Ryan and Cesar engaged with what their musical tastes are as well and seeing what kind of cool music we can make together.
Are you planning any videos for your music?
I always do videos for my music. I did shoot a music video but it was for a remix/new sound kinda song but since I’m still a very small artist and it didn’t get much of a response, I started to save my money and just release lyric videos or animated videos for now.
Where was your last song recorded?
The last song and all songs so far with the new sound starting with Paralyzed to Deep Moonlight and this current release Lost Without You started with the original idea pitch between Cesar, Ryan and myself… Once that was established, Cesar went to town in his laboratory at CreateMusicGroup, Ryan would run through the vibes and create some great melodies at his home studio. I would then write the lyrics and record vocals at my home studio. After all that is done, Jeff Kanan would mix in his Studio. So every part of all of our songs have been done remotely at each of our respective studios.
What are your musical plans for the next 12 months or so?
To keep writing music in the hopes I can get on a tour or maybe figure out how I’m going to perform these songs since I’m a solo artist. I know my other two guys working with me on the music, Ryan and Cesar won’t tour with me! Lol. So yeah, that’s the plan, keep pushing music out, defining the RSM sound and tour with some great artists.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
I do, typically my songs or it’s all over the place. Halsey, Post Malone, Tupac, Chris Cornell, Alice in Chains, Iron Maiden, George Michael, Boys II Men… yea I’m all over the place.
What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?
I would typically cook, so it would definitely be a dry aged ribeye…
What was the last TV series you watched on TV?
Yellowstone, I typically like more fictional sci-fi but I heard a local artist got one of his songs placed on it, so I wanted to check it out.
As a kid were you ever frightened of a monster under the bed or in the cupboard?
I watched the Blob one time and I would also check the toilet to make sure he wasn’t in there before I sat down…
Which are cooler? Dinosaurs or Dragons?
Dragons definitely, I do have a dragon tattoo.
