Tell our readers about your new single, “Rodeo Money.”
“Rodeo Money” is a different perspective on the “cowboy riding away” storyline we often hear in country music. It talks about the loneliness that comes from being in a relationship with someone in rodeo and how the cowboy leaves, but so does the money he won.
What is your creative process like?
I often start out with a melody when writing songs and the lyrics come later. I’ve never been one to start with lyrics and then put music to them.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
I would love to open for Cody Johnson. He has an amazing fan base and is so entertaining live.
Have you got a ritual of sorts when writing and thinking about your music?
I don’t have any rituals, but it’s common that I write about the western lifestyle and things I experience on a daily basis.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Someone told me never to change my music to fit someone else’s preference or what they want it to sound like. Authenticity always comes out on top.
Would you like to collaborate with anyone? If so, who and why?
I’d like to collab with Cody Johnson or Ian Munsick. I love both of their styles and we sing about a lot of the same things.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
I think Reese Witherspoon would play a good “me” in a movie. Love her personality!
