Although you may not have heard his name, yet Lance Curtis at the tender age of one, stepped into the spotlight playing music with his Papa Gage and Uncle Shannon, and in that moment, he knew that the stage is where he belonged.
Lance greatly admired and respected his Papa, who helped him develop his craft and his passion for music. It was obvious to his family from an early age that Lance had inherited his Papa’s “ear” for music, and at the young age of only 9 years old, he became proficient in playing the guitar and piano. Lance has a true country soul and expresses that plainly in the songs he writes and the way he performs. Because he was raised on classic country music, Lance wants to hold true to his roots and mix a traditional sound with today’s country radio sound, much like Cody Johnson, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, William Michael Morgan, Jon Pardi, and Luke Combs. Lance is often told by Nashville music industry experts that he is the perfect blend of classic and modern country music.
What first got you into music?
Ever since a year old, music has been what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! My late papa Bill Gage had a classic country band, and I grew up watching and playing with them on stage. He had a huge influence in my passion for music!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Since I was raised on classic country, I try to stay true to my roots when I write, but with a modern twist. I’ve been told by many industry professionals; I have the perfect blend between modern and classic country! My songs are about love, patriotism, fun, God, and everyday life!
Where have you performed? What is your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
I have been very blessed to play thousands of shows in the past 6 years whether in Nashville, on tour, or playing local festivals back home!
Recently I’ve been able to go out on tour and play venues like the Jacksonville Jaguar Stadium, and White Oak Amphitheater in Greensboro NC. The crowds were amazing and all together just a great time! What we have going on next, I have been contracted through my producer Kent Wells, to debut one of my songs off the new album at the legendary mother church of country music the Ryman Auditorium. I couldn’t be more excited!!
Which famous musicians do you admire?
I have always looked up to Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Alan Jackson, Cody Johnson, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Craig Morgan, and more!
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
I love getting to connect with my fans the most! Meeting everyone who has helped me to get where I am at and getting to hear they’re stories about something they were going through, but my songs helped them along the way!
If you could be a superhero, what would your superpower be and your superhero name?
Ever since the Flash came out, I have obsessively wanted to be the Flash 😂 It’s just not fair he can run that fast without getting out of breath, but for me to run, I’m so slow and tired!
What was the last thing you dressed up as for fancy dress?
I actually just got back from the Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge for an award show at the Josie Music Awards. It was a great time!!
What is the most useless talent you have?
I can turn a regular ink pen into a pen that shoots the pen cartridge out.
How do you advertise your music?
We are on all major streaming, iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, etc.
Also, you can purchase my music from my website www.lancecurtismusic.com. Or go to my social media platforms ”lancecurtismusic” on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Almost every time, haha! It really depends, I have a JBL Bluetooth speaker, so sometimes I’ll put on the tracks to my songs and sing to the music to practice for shows.
Lance Curtis makes his return to the spotlight with his roaring new single “Land of the Free.” “Land of the Free” shows Curtis’ talent in a new light, as the track showcases his ability to write and record country rock with just as much authority and conviction as he has when singing country.
