Through his latest single ‘Hurricane’, Midlands-based singer, songwriter and musician Dom Malin rifles through the metaphorical piles of rubble, the remnants of recent destruction, and the shattered pieces of what was once before.

What he holds onto amidst these symbols of disaster is love and how that, whether it be romantic, familial, or platonic, can steer any ship through the most treacherous of storms. These sensitive lyrics are carried on indie-folk acoustic textures that take Malin back to his singer-songwriter roots, as well as connecting ‘Hurricane’ to similarly tempestuously themed ‘Eye of the Storm’ and the aqueous recent release ‘Surface’.

Produced and mixed by Jonathan Anderson, (Ocie Elliot, Field Guide) with undertones of Zach Bryan and Wild Rivers, ‘Hurricane’ isn’t what you’d expect from such an impactful meteorological event. Instead, Dom Malin offers a post-storm tranquility, with his words of comfort that are made all the more soothing by the steady drums and winding americana strings. This style is essential to Malin’s songwriting ethos, through which he creates introspective soundscapes inspired by poetry, nature, and tender human interactions.

Speaking further on his latest release, Dom Malin says, “Hurricane champions the courage to overcome hardships, and finding solace in acknowledging the past as part of your story. However, in the company of someone you love and trust, you can weather any storm.”

Dom Malin has built his life around music. From acquiring his first electric guitar at 12-years-old, he has never let go of that childlike wonder and passion for creating music. In his youth, a pivotal life moment happened at a school talent show where he performed Green Day’s iconic anthem ‘Time of Your Life’; driven by adrenaline, that evening he wrote his first song. Since then, Malin has proven himself an undeniable talent and his skill has not gone unnoticed.

On several occasions, he has been the artist of the week for BBC Introducing Lincolnshire and gained support through numerous music platforms, including the veritable Mahogany. Malin is also no stranger to the live circuit, having supported Paris Paloma on her 2023 UK tour, supported Dermot Kennedy’s Sonder tour, and headed up his own tour through Germany and Switzerland last year.
