Following the critical success on a string of releases in 2018 ‘Remedy’, ‘Tied Up’ and ‘Don’t Complicate It’, Ea Kaya (the moniker of Danish singer Christine Kiberg) serves the first mood of 2019 with her defiant new track ‘4AM’.
Continuing to define herself against the pop landscape with her frank, outspoken wisdom on sex, love and human nature, the young Copenhagen-born singer/songwriter again balances a precociously talented vocal performance with a slow-burning hook that grows to the kind of sweeping chorus that will continue the growing critical attention around this young star. Speaking on the track, Ea states: “It’s a story about late nights and early mornings. We all know this person; X never contacts you sober on a weekday, You’re only interesting when the bar closes on a Saturday at 4 AM and nobody else is up for anything. You know inside that you deserve to be prioritised, but for some reason, you still open up when the doorbell rings…”
Already picking up acclaim from heavyweight tastemakers incl. HIGHSNOBIETY, DUMMY, C-HEADS and HOUSE OF SOLO as well as a co-sign from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, the blogosphere and radio tastemakers are united in heralding one of the most charismatic new talents in the genre. Still just 22, Ea Kaya is fast making waves as Denmark’s most exciting future-pop prospect and with her debut EP set to drop later in the year, 2019 is looking like a milestone one for her.
