After gathering numerous accolades and acclaim with their film work, non-binary artist daddi ru (they/them) is now trying their hand at making music.
The rising indie-pop artist has made their debut in the music industry by unveiling their first single release “My Parasite” from their forthcoming EP. With such a bold undertaking, the queer star-on-the-rise is coming out of the gate strong with hip-hop purveyor, Grandmaster Caz.
The collaboration between the two artists was a truly perfect pairing. “Working with Grandmaster Caz was such an incredible experience,” Ru shared about the creative process. “It made me feel validated as a creator that someone like him could feel the impact of the song.” Grandmaster Caz also had positive things to say about working with daddi ru, stating “they laid the groundwork for something special and when I heard it I knew I had to be a part of the process.”
“My Parasite” is a brutally honest lyrical piece in which daddi ru begs their partner to move onto someone new and leave them alone. With a dense yet eerie electronic production courtesy of Duddy Brown, the single is an emotionally raw and intense work that is further developed by the powerhouse vocals of daddi ru. Coupling this with a phenomenal rap verse from Grandmaster Caz, “My Parasite” is sure to capture the attention of both pop and hip-hop lovers alike.
