(Nashville, TN; May 26, 2020) – Swiss-American singer/songwriter Caroline Marquard launched an acoustic video series, titled From Switzerland To East Nashville, with her latest single “Never Should’ve Left.” Featured on her debut EP The Prologue coming June 26th, the visual premiered exclusively with Refinery29’s The Drop, their video platform which shines a spotlight on women artists whose music inspires, excites, and (literally) moves them. Calling it “an accidental quarantine anthem,” Refinery29 noted “[Never Should’ve Left] feels especially relevant in this time of global self-isolation…Whether it’s missing loved ones, or a lover, or just aspects of ‘normal’ life pre-quarantine, the beautiful song now holds a double meaning.”
On how she titled the video series, Marquard explains, “This whole project and my first EP is the first chapter in my book, how I got to where I am right now. That story begins in Switzerland and currently lands in Nashville.”
The four-part video series which supports her forthcoming project features live acoustic performances filmed in East Nashville at the studio of producer and the song’s co-writer, Jordan Lehning (Kacey Musgraves, Shania Twain). Premiering earlier this month on Billboard, “Never Should’ve Left” was also co-written with award-winning songwriter Liz Rose (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood). Marquard shares it’s an “introspective song, looking back at a relationship and realizing your part in it. The good and the bad. Thinking about what you would do differently if you could do it all over again.”
Marquard is currently hosting a weekly Instagram series, “Caro-Wine Down Wednesdays,” performing songs from The Prologue, brand new cuts and her favorite cover songs while answering questions and chatting with fans. With songwriting credits from around the globe, the Nashville-based artist is also the voice behind one of Germany’s leading beauty brands, Flaconi, who featured her song “Look In The Mirror” in their national commercial campaign.
