Brooklyn Based, boy-girl duo almost sex return with their debut EP, the sensational 5 track body of work We’re Okay. Radiating nostalgia, incased in a relaxed coolness and jam packed with intimate personality, this is almost sex like you’ve never heard them before.
Featuring an eclectic, heady blend of impeccable indie-folk, layers of hazy Lo-fi pop, softly punctuated with moments of alt rock and all topped off with a dash of sweet americana, the project is ingeniously written, expertly performed and perfectly produced. Simply put, We’re Okay is nothing short of a modern day masterpiece in the Indie music world.
Having connected on Hinge back in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Nick Louis and Warren LaSota’s music met before they did. In true movie-like fashion they sent demos, tracks and lyrics back and forth, writing via the lifeline of technology, creatively coming together long before physically meeting one another. Singles ‘Knock Off’ and ‘Eye to Eye’ are examples of this unprecedented moment in time.
With 4 previously unheard tracks from the anthemic ‘Show/Tell’,to the bouncy, guitar-led ‘Sound Asleep’ with foot-tapping percussion and hopeful Americana-style songwriting. We then move through to ‘Lucille’, the EP’s official single released in January this year which features heartbeat-like rhythms alongside angsty lyricism and a slow yet catchy top-line. ‘Beverly’ has more of a welcomed rockier edge and the EP finishes with a Lo-fi, field like, simplistic recording that oozes with character in the form of title track ‘We’re Okay’.
With the utmost care and attention to detail, almost sex have continuously explored the boundaries of their own artistic influence, musicality and personal vulnerability, injecting their music and songwriting with layers of meaning and an undeniable richness of sound.
