Boosted by the great support surrounding her independently released debut EP “Celebrate Life” – now on over two million streams on Spotify alone – London based singer-songwriter Alice Pisano releases her own version of the iconic ‘Take On Me’ by Norwegian pop group A-ha.
It’s no easy feat reworking one of the most well-known songs of all time, but Alice has done it effortlessly, tearing down the song and rebuilding it into an emotive, heart-warming ballad. Produced by Alice herself, this version truly showcases the essence of Alice’s silky and angelic vocals, reinventing the original by giving it a snowy, stripped down and atmospheric feel. Lawyers of echoing electric guitars gently support Alice’s vocals which remain at the forefront of the song, immersing us into a dream like state with a minimal, yet effective production.
Speaking on the track, Alice said: “My parents have always loved ‘Take On Me’ and I grew up listening to it, I always knew I would do my own version of it sooner or later. I tried to capture the feeling of urgency of the song, but making it more vulnerable and mellow. It was so much fun arranging it and recording it at Abbey Road Studios”.
Alice had one of the brightest entrances to the scene in recent times, with the singles off her Celebrate Life EP produced by Ian Barter (Izzy Bizu, Rhys Lewis, Dermott Kennedy) picking up support from a number of online tastemakers, BBC Radio London, BBC Introducing, National Dutch Radio NPO Radio 2, Spotify (New Music Friday UK, Soft Pop Hits, Mellow Morning etc.), making Alice a definitive talent to watch out for.
