A Big Yes and a small no has released their latest single, “The Truth.” This soul-stirring composition, featuring the soft, sweet vocals of Kevin Kendrick, is an enchanting blend of real instruments that promises to take listeners on a contemplative journey, and is available on all streaming platforms now

Embracing a unique musical narrative, “The Truth” delicately intertwines vocals with a mesmerizing echo of a guitar in transitions, creating a harmonious dance between voice and instrument. The song’s progression begins with a gentle, soft introduction, gradually building into a larger band sound while maintaining its laid-back vibes throughout.

At its core, “The Truth” explores the theme of the ‘burden of truth,’ — a lyrical journey that delves into the dichotomy of ignorance being bliss while simultaneously embracing the challenges of confronting and accepting the truth. The song serves as a poignant soundtrack for introspection, resonating with those seeking solace in the midst of life’s complexities.

“I found a photo booth picture of me from many years before and realized it was like looking at a 4-panel comic strip of my 20s.  I’d just come off of tour with Andy Falco, Andrew Altman, and David Butler and they’d wanted me to write something to record with them.  I got hit with a bolt of lightning when I saw the photo booth pictures and wrote it very quickly,” says Kevin Kendrick. “Andy Falco, being a grammy-award winning bluegrass player, really wanted to track live with no click track so everything but the vocals and acoustic guitar was live! That is NOT my typical way to work but I think it came out great.”

“The Truth” was written by Kevin Kendrick, recorded and mixed by Reed Black at Vinegar Hill Sound, mastered by Fred Kevorkian, and features vibraphone and vocals by Kevin Kendrick, guitar by Andy Falco, bass by Andrew Altman, and drums by David Butler.

A Big Yes and a small no has consistently pushed the boundaries of musical expression, and “The Truth” is no exception. With a perfect fusion of soft vocals, real instruments, and poignant lyrics, the band continues to captivate audiences with their unique sonic signature perfect for a pensive road trip.“The Truth” is available now on all major streaming platforms.

About A Big Yes and a Small No

A Big Yes and a Small No is an NYC-based indie-pop band formed in 2006 out of the ashes of the “prodigiously talented” (Entertainment Weekly) Fat Mama by singer-songwriter and vibraphonist Kevin Kendrick.  A Big Yes and a small no’s core personnel features many notable players such as Joe Russo (Furthur, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), Erik Deutsch (The Black Crowes, Charlie Hunter Trio), Jon Goldberger (Visitors, John Zorn’s Bagatelles), and this most recent recording features Andy Falco (The Infamous Stringdusters) and others.  Called “The hippest pop band you’ve ever heard in your life” by Village Voice music critic Richard Gehr, A Big Yes and a small no’s debut Jesus That Looks Terrible On You (2008) was called “beautiful…recalls Ben Folds’ earlier, more adventurous works” (Relix) and picked by Popsyndicate.com as of one of 2008’s 10 best records. It also caught fire on college radio and was the “14th-most added band to college radio playlists in July of 2008” according to The College Music Journal.  The most recent release Mise En Abyme (2018) was released by Royal Potato Family Records in Brooklyn to similarly rave reviews.  Kevin Kendrick has survived both a kidnapping in Colombia in the ’90s and a heroin addiction, and always has a funny story if you want to hear it!
