Following the success of his previous single, ‘Turn Away’ sees Strange delve further into his darker and more left-wing influences such as Mura Masa and Flume. ‘Turn Away’ was produced by up-and-coming artist Shor while on ‘Four In The Morning’ Harry worked with long-time collaborator Duncan Brookfield (Charli XCX, Anne Marie) to realize his unique vision. Strange looks set to continue his innovative streak on his upcoming EP, due for release later this year.

With his debut concept EP ‘Crying At The Party’ Strange garnered support from BBC Introducing in the West, Euphoria Magazine and Atwood Magazine. Building on that momentum, Strange’s latest releases see him consolidate his position as a sensitive yet bold voice of queer electronica. Each of Strange’s successive releases quickly seem to win a place in his fan’s hearts, with his incredible ability to distil complex experiences into accessible music proving to be unrelenting.

His preceding release (Four In The Morning) saw Strange investigate the emotional complexities of a one night stand with effortless ease. With lyricism that’s easily accessible yet born from a place of authenticity; it’s not hard to understand why that even in the relative infancy of his career, Harry Strange’s music has already struck a chord with so many. His heartachingly resonant debut single ‘Back Around’ has already clocked up nearly a million streams on Spotify alone. While his subsequent releases, such as ‘Sober’ and ‘Signs’ have seen him develop his singular sound, earning him a devoted following.

On the live front, Harry has sold-out shows at London’s Waiting Room and Bristol’s Crofters Rights. He’s also supported Canadian indie-pop band Dizzy and British hitmaker Zak Abel. Unlike many other indie-pop leaning artists, with his stunning debut EP, Harry Strange has already showcased his knack for crafting a body of work that’s full of poignant storytelling and an enthralling overarching narrative.

Speaking of the ‘Turn Away’, Harry Strange explains:

“Turn Away is about asking someone to leave even though you want them to stay. That dilemma of knowing something isn’t right but continuing down that path even though you know it’s going to end up hurting you more. So, Turn Away is that ripping off the bandaid, if you can’t stay I’d rather you just leave now.”

Now straddling the space between the shiny pop of Lauv with the more experimental edge of artists like SG Lewis, Harry joins the tide of other DIY queer artists that are making a bedroom project sound adventurous and provocative. With the upcoming EP seeing production from upcoming artists Shor and Brookfield, Harry has pushed himself with this release, revealing himself to be an indie artist to watch in 2020.
