“A musical exploration of the wild and mystical feminine power,” is how British/Colombian singer-songwriter Vanessa Forero has described her new release: Fuego.
Upon living in Colombia for over a year, Forero returned to British soil and into her home studio where she got busy recording the array of native instruments she had gathered, layering up hundreds of sounds and parts into what you’ll hear as a wild-cat, tribal symphony. Check out her studio music video for the opening track here or her ‘behind the record’ video here.
Fuego is full of energy; a concept record where fire is the element behind every move, making this one passionate, aggressive, sexy and incendiary journey. Forero created each track based on a groove she had heard on her travels; from street musicians to the taxi man’s playlist or the drums she’d over-hear from the theatre, she lived next to.
Forero is currently touring the record through Latin America, and so far with great response, radio play and bookings for festivals in the summer. Stay tuned for the upcoming video for YHWH, which was shot in the stunning Colombian Tatacoa desert (dir. Felipe Rodriguez) and will be followed by an ethereal paper animation for NORTH WIND (dir. Tasha Tully).
