Rising UK R&B star, Ricardo Williams returns with his first single of 2019, just before the release of his eagerly awaited EP Intermission.
Come Over features Grammy-nominated R&B queen Teedra Moses and is Co-produced by Nayla ‘Sillkey’ Nyassa who has produced for tracks for the likes of Craig David, Jacob Banks, Vanessa White and more.
The remix takes on new life with an undeniably amazing vocal by Teedra Moses. This remix solidifies Ricardo’s versatility and exudes his longevity and confidence which truly displays him as arguably one of the most vibrant R&B artists trailblazing from the UK.
2018 was a big year for Williams with the release of new music to various live performances. This Included supporting Faith Evans on her UK tour and recently being signed to the label Recordbox spearheaded by BBC Radio (1Xtra) DJ ACE
2019 has only just got into full swing but expect to see and hear so much more from Ricardo from here on out.
Singer-songwriter Ricardo Williams was born in Jamaica, raised in Hackney and has now settled in Birmingham, UK. Music became a key part of his life at an early stage. He found his voice at 7 years old and started to sing in talent shows, school plays, church and around friends and family. Already at the young age of 12, he began to explore writing his own music to various instrumentals
.Ricardo’s professional singing career began with Gospel music. He released two solo projects and two projects with the gospel collective ‘The Company’. His musical style was always influenced by artists such as Boyz II Men, Donnie Hathaway, H-Town, Dru Hill, Jodeci, Tank and Dave Hollister and it was a natural progression for him to start making R&Bmusic. With such strong role models, he was able to draw inspiration and set his own blueprint on a genre that he truly loves. Ricardo explains “I think a lot of people try to recreate the songs of the past. I try to recreate the feelings of what I loved about those songs. I try to make my own melodies that bring out those feelings in people. When I write I want you to feel whatever emotion I am going through. I want it to feel personal. I want you to feel like you are in my life”. In 2016 his single ‘Deeper’ grabbed the attention of R&B lovers and received radio support from BBC 1Xtra and across community radio stations.
As well as working on original music over the last few years, Ricardo has done backing vocals for a number of high profile artists including Dwele, Tweet, Bilal, Joy Denalane and on Emeli Sande’s latest album. Quickly gaining the reputation as one of the strongest vocalists in the UK. Fast-forward to 2018, Ricardo has Joined none other than Faith Evans on her UK King and I Tourandisready to share new music. His lasttwosingles‘Come Over’& ‘He Ain’t Me’ which was featured as DJ Ace’s(BBC 1Xtra)‘Track Of The Week’ will be part of his upcoming EP, planned to drop later in the year.
