A year and a half after their In Your Head record, Canadian band The Trampoline Delay have returned with a new single, “Excuses Excuses”
About The Band:
Hailing from the depths of the alternative rock scene, Pete Marino, performing under the enigmatic alias “The Trampoline Delay,” is a solo artist whose music blends contemporary melodic, infectious, guitar-driven indie rock with the raw power and spirit of 90’s power pop / rock creating a sound that’s uniquely captivating, leaving fans and critics alike craving for more.
With a vision to elevate his artistry to new heights, Pete Marino has handpicked a trio of exceptionally talented musicians to complete The Trampoline Delay’s roster, evolving from solo studio project, to full fledged band. Gerard Ross drives the rhythm section, his musical chemistry with Pete igniting electric performances. Willie Villaverde adds depth with steady rhythm and tight harmonies reminiscent of acts like Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket. John MacIntosh infuses creative melodies, depth, and edge on lead guitar.
About “Excuses Excuses”:
“Lyrically, “Excuses Excuses” is about letting your shyness or social anxiety take over. That battle you have with your inner voice that makes excuses as to why you shouldn’t get out there and live your life,” say frontman Pete Marino about the single.
“Ironically, I came up with the verse first, which had the line “But excuses always keep me from my life”, after being invited out by a friend to see a band they worked with called Excuses Excuses. Like I sometimes do, my mind came up with an excuse as to why I shouldn’t go out that night… and I sort of regretted it within hours. Instead of just going to bed, I went into my home studio, wrote the verse, and basically wrote and recorded the rest of the song in around 3 hours. This is pretty typical for me, as I often write and record, coming up with the parts on the fly, and then forgetting them when it comes time to play them, because they were one and done.”

The song has an indie rock feel straight from the best of the 90s, with an alternative pop spin that creates a catchy sound. “Excuses Excuses” is the first single from The Trampoline Delay’s upcoming album (release date to be announced), and if this song is any indication of the album’s style, we’re looking forward to hearing the rest.
