Mike Fuller, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, turns up the volume for his second release, ‘The Missed Connection EP.’ The trio of songs features the dynamic groove “Ms. Wrong,” the rock-and-roll road trip “Two Rivers,” and the yearning, bluesy jam “Miss Colleen,” drawing influence from Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer Trio, and Theo Katzman. Collectively, the songs are a coming of age journey through distance and time, detailing some of the trials and tribulations he endured that led him to where he is now – happily engaged.
Fuller was fortunate to record with Katzman’s touring drummer, Jordan Rose, as well as Andy Hess, former Gov’t Mule and The Black Crowes bassist, on the EP. “To say collaborating with these two was a dream come true would be the understatement of a lifetime,” Fuller said.
“The longer I’ve sat with these songs, the more feelings of distance they bring about for me: between you and someone else, between you and your goals, between who you are and who you want to be, things like that,” Fuller reflects. “We’re all on our own journey trying to achieve different things, and with having goals and desires, what we’re after is pretty steadily just out of reach. The pandemic highlighted a lot of those feelings for me and drove me to releasing these songs while we’re still somewhat in it.”
Fuller spent much of 2019 testing material in numerous Jersey City and Hoboken venues before moving to and performing in Brooklyn in early 2020 just before the City shut down. Since then, he built an Instagram Live concert series called, “Quarantunes,” hosting numerous artists from local NYC musicians to national and international touring acts. Through ten weeks of shows, they raised over $3,500 for various charities supporting COVID-19 pandemic relief. The series was featured on NBC4 NY and the Rowan University website. His debut EP, ‘The Human Condition EP,’ was released on September 4, 2020.
