Asher’s career has taken him on multiple tours across the length and breadth of the UK, supporting the likes of The Vamps, Boyzone, Steps, Will Young, All Saints and more. Asher has gone onto appearing live on CBBC, as well as having sparking interest from the BBC R2 team. Asher’s music has accumulated to over 800,000 streams on Spotify.

Having worked hard throughout 2020, Asher launches into 2021 with new music ready to be released throughout the year. Beginning with his single ‘Alone’, released 5 February 2021, Asher’s upcoming releases mark a defining moment in his life and the start of a new chapter.

Getting to know Asher

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Always, I can’t help it. I truly think everyone secretly sings in the shower.

If you were to write an autobiography, what would the title be?

Hmm, that difficult. I love reading autobiography’s so if wrote one I might call it. “Who is Asher Knight?”

What makes you nostalgic?

Looking at old pictures. My parents keep photo albums with different pictures throughout my life and looking back at them makes me appreciate how special every moment in life is.

What was the last TV series you watched on TV?

Line of Duty, I binged watched all the last series and literally loving the new series. It’s addictive and I get drawn into all the small details trying to find out who the secret character H is.

Do you shout out the answers at the TV whilst watching quiz shows?

Oh yes!! I love quiz shows and I’m addicted to the Chase.

Are you a valuable asset on a Pub Quiz team?

I hope I would be a valuable asset but most probably not. I have never done a pub quiz so I might need to go find do one.

What first got you into music?

I ended up starting music accidentally, I was more into dance and drama growing up but I ended up in a singing lesson at school and for months I was hiding in the back of the class pretending to sing until one day my teacher had me get up and do a solo. I got given two options leave the classroom or do the solo, I chose to sing Can’t Help Falling in Love and from that very moment onwards is sparked a love for music.

Who inspired you to make music?

I inspired myself to make music really, I started singing other people’s music which I loved but I wanted to get my own story across and eventually I got the chance to do that.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I have always wanted to collab with Taylor Swift, she is an incredible songwriter who for years I have been inspired by. I love learning from others and doing a collab together would inspire me and teach me loads more about writing.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

“Be yourself” has to be the ultimate piece of advice I have been given but also, it’s the hardest advice to take on board. There is so much pressure in the world to be perfect and fit in so just being yourself can be hard but I think I have been true to myself and hopefully inspired others to be also.

Has your musical journey had a deliberate direction or did it simply gradually evolve in whatever direction it found?

My music has evolved over time, looking back it shows different parts of my life and the challenges I had faces. I hope it carries on to evolve with time as it shows my growth as an artist but also as a person.

What are your musical plans for the next 12 months or so?

Thankfully things are looking great for the next 12 months. I will be releasing more music and eventually my EP and then hopefully if all goes to plan to do a tour. It’s been a weird past year but I am looking forward now to what is ahead.

Burn is about a turbulent relationship that’s toxic. Asher remarks that “sometimes these relationships feel great in the moment but when it’s ended you realise all the pain you have suffered during that time. This song is about a hard time in my life but when talking about it I realised a lot of people have felt burnt by past relationships, so writing it felt like finally putting an end to that chapter of my life and moving on.” Ultimately, describing a situation that eventually crashes and ‘burns’
