Multi-instrumentalist Young Clancy has been a producer-to-watch since delivering 2017’s exceptional Yung Prince of the Basement EP. March 15, he released the new collaborative EP, Friends, through Black Box Music.
The impressive collection of tracks showcases Young Clancy’s unique talent for production, influenced by everyone from Neil Young to Kanye West. His Friends EP showcases collaborations with a host of talented musicians from Canada’s underground music scene including Chris LaRocca, M.I Blue, Matthew Progress, MADDEE, Jonah Yano and Fredwave.
Currently living in Toronto’s Hallam neighbourhood, Young Clancy and Elise, his painter/stylist wife, have created one of the city’s key creative centre in the form of a studio and vintage outlet based out of their home. In just a few short years, Elise has amassed a client list of local photographers, creative directors, and artists whilst downstairs, Young Clancy has crafted sounds for Toronto’s most influential underground musicians. Visitors can feel the energy the pair have built around their home as soon as they walk in – a piano to the left, one of Elise’s paintings hanging on the wall to the right, and local rappers recording in the studio below. A community flourishing with the help of a strong and creative couple.
Armed with unique creative tapestry and genre-spanning music, 2019 is set to be Young Clancy’s breakout year.
