Following on from the release of the single, Lupa J can now reveal the official video for ‘You’re In My Headphones’.
Filmed between an underpass and a dance studio, the video depicts Lupa J experiencing the conflicting energy that consumes us when falling in love.
Lupa J explains “that the song was about being completely and utterly consumed by a feeling of joy over a new crush. We then came up with this idea to create a clip focused around feelings of ecstasy and possession, bordering on madness – referencing scenes from ‘Posession’ (1981) and ‘Suspiria’ (2018). Gus oversaw improvised movement by dancer Jennifer Poon and I before editing the two scenes together, matching movements in the shots to create the sense of interconnection. It becomes hard to discern whether I’m enjoying this state of possession or finding it painful, this fine line being the central idea of the project.”
‘You’re In My Headphones’ is taken from Lupa J’s forthcoming debut album ‘Swallow Me Whole’ – which is set for release this year.
