the Spotify Secret Genius studio in London. I wrote this song about the experience of loss, how when you lose someone, you wish you could’ve spent more time with them. The lyrics pay testament to the people we have to let go.”
Porteous is a 20 year old artist and songwriter based in London. With Jazz, Indie and Pop influences ranging from artists such as Jordan Rakei, Radiohead, and Foals, Porteous shows a fresh and energetic style in his sound.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer known for his work as a performing musician on the UK scene, originally coming from Colchester in Essex. Ben Porteous has played in a number of projects, as a drummer and keys player, more recently taking to stages at festivals such as SXSW (2019) and Latitude (2018) with Sam Eagle.
Porteous burst onto the scene this summer with his debut release ‘Vibe with You’, following an interview with Tom Robinson airing on BBC 6 Music at the start of the year to promote the project. ‘Vibe with You’ was previewed on BBC Introducing Essex where the track was made ‘Producers Pick’! It also had further airplay on 6 Music, getting added to the Introducing mixtape. The mix of jazzy keys and his soulful vocals encased with pop songwriting make Porteous a unique and highly anticipated young act to watch out for this year.
