James Keith is a multi-talented individual with a passion for music and sports. He grew up in Orange, NSW, where he discovered his love for music and learned to play the guitar.
He also followed in his father’s footsteps by playing rugby league for Manly. He later returned to Orange to pursue his music career, crafting his debut album “Life is Good Today” filled with positive and autobiographical tales.
What first got you into music?
My dad put a guitar in my hand when i was 8? At the same time he decided to put us 5 boys to work and build a vineyard so we had lots of time to listen to music. He also had a great vinyl and cd collection.
When you create music, what is your personal purpose or goal?
To make people feel alive through good energy and positivity. My songs are all positive have great messages in them.
What is your favorite song to perform?
My new song ON FIRE its loud its big its powerful and full of energy. I like jumping around on stage.
How do you go about writing a song? Do you have a melody in your head and then write the other music for it?
Normally I always gravitate to a melody, thats how i get hooked into a song. I do have a book of poems and lyrics which I then add in.
Which famous musicians do you admire?
Chris Martin is an all round beautiful man. His positivity and demena are to be admired.
Closer to home? INXS and Michael Hutchence. What a man, what a voice, what a front man.
Do you enjoy recording and production?
Love the process, there are a million ways a song can be produced and i really believe the production of a song makes or breaks it. I also love experimenting with different sounds.
Who are your top two favorite artists of all time? Why those artists?
Zac brown band. I never liked country until a trip to Nashville and I heard a Zac brown song – now I’m hooked
The 1975 – their music is the best style ive ever heard, Ontop Matty is a great front man and they have been together since they were 13 (over 22) years.
Also have to mention Coldplay – best live act on the planet
What is next for you?
Helping produce my 2nd album. Continuing to develop my skills both writing and performing.
What historical figure would you love to see in 21st century life?
William Wallace, such a passionate strong leader who would sacrifice his own life for what he believes in.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
George cloney or gandalf the grey. Both nicknames of mine as i went grey at 21 😂
If you could learn any language fluently, what would it be?
Spanish. I have travelled the world and I love the spanish language and culture, i envy bilingual people.
Do you shout out the answers at the TV whilst watching quiz shows?
All the time haha, im very competitive and like to test my knowledge.
What’s your least favourite personality trait you like about yourself?
Very trusting. It has got me in trouble lots of times by people who have taken advantage of me but it wont change me
