Maude Latour arrives with “Superfruit,” an infectious, juicy slice of indie pop with her new single and music video out now on all platforms. Featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and premiered via This Song Is Sick

The 19-year-old New Yorker possesses the unique ability to craft a song that glows with light and color meanwhile covering introspective subject matter as she takes on topics like fear of death and loneliness whilst presenting imagery of pop rocks and summer bliss.

“This song came from a feeling,” says Maude. “And I think the song feels exactly like that feeling. It’s partially about being sick of small talk, admitting how lonely I (and everyone feels all the time despite being constantly surrounded by people), but still feeling wonderful. It’s about a crush, it’s about summer. It’s about the feeling of pop rocks and orange juice, a frozen dream of driving down a highway in a car with my ponytail blowing in the wind. It’s about realizing bad guys are overrated and being afraid of death — but it’s all a wonderful feeling: the fact all of this can be true and it can still be summer time. We are so complex, happiness is so special. Superfruit.”

Since releasing her first full-length in 2018 with High School High, Maude has built a DIY cult following while spreading a powerful message of inclusivity and self-empowerment. Speaking to her fans directly via Instagram in what she calls ‘spill therapy,’ Maude encourages her listeners to be vocal and stay true to themselves.

Currently a Freshman at Columbia where she studies philosophy and political science (and plans to be the first president to perform at her own inauguration), Maude accompanies “Superfruit” with a music video detailing the young singer’s daily environment – her dorm room, the library, and the college quad lawn. A refreshing piece of honest content, the visual perfectly depicts Maude, her passion for life, and the song’s poignant yet playful message.

About Maude Latour

Maude Latour considers herself a real New Yorker, despite having grown up between Sweden, London, New York and Hong Kong. Settling in the city for high school, Maude began turning her adventures into poetry and stories, which evolved into melodies and lyrics. Attending an all-girls school in upper Manhattan, Maude and her best friends spent their weekends harmonizing on subways and sidewalks. Train cars turned into the Bitter End and other classic New York venues, where Maude found an energy on stage that transports you into her dream-world, which might remind you surprisingly of your own. Maude independently put out her first two original songs “Shoot and Run” and “Wasted” as part of a final high school project, which culminated in her first full-length release “High School High” in late 2018.

Maude has spent the past year translating her own philosophies and political ideals into a musical universe interspersed with the transcendental, religion, and love for her best friend. Having moved across town, she is now finishing her Freshman year at Columbia University and preparing to share her next chapter of music. Studying philosophy and political science, Maude plans to be the first president to perform at her own inauguration.
