October 9th, 2020 (New York, NY): R&B Artist Jazzy Mejia has released a new music video for “Xbox,” a track off of her first EP, Seven24. Born out of quarantine due to COVID-19, each track on the album stems from self-realization and personal life experiences. The single and music video for “Xbox” involves confronting your significant other about the lack of attention and the frustrations that come with being ignored for video games. The music video was directed by Nelson Moran of sHoTXero; he was also the director of Jazzy Mejia’s previous music video for “Perfect.”
“Shooting this video with Nelson Moran was so much fun! Nelson is so good at bringing the ideas in my head to life. Working with my real life boyfriend Jared was so easy going as well. I feel like we did a great job portraying the song concept!” – Jazzy Mejia
Filmed with her boyfriend, the music video depicts Jazzy Mejia’s battle in fighting for his attention, but she has some stiff competition: his Xbox. Overall, the track oozes emotional honesty and reveals an unfiltered view into Mejia’s exhaustion with her partner’s antics. “Xbox,” like the rest of the tracks on Seven24, was written, produced, mixed, and mastered by Jazzy Mejia. Tawainese rapper, BAER, who is featured on the track and in the music video, also mirrors Jazzy Mejia’s desire for connection from a significant other.
“When Jazzy played me the song and asked me to hop on it, I immediately connected with it—this is something so many girls go through with their boyfriends! It’s hella annoying haha. My boyfriend was addicted to his Nintendo Switch for a minute!” – BAER
Jazzy Mejia was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, in a multicultural family with musical roots. Music has always been a part of her life. Having watched her sister, Natalie Mejia’s winning performance on the television show Girlicious at the age of 12 inspired her to start her own female vocal group. She has been in girl groups such as N2ition, LT3, Mejia, and G.R.L., and has toured all over the world before finding her own sound and becoming a solo artist.
