Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Jane Honor’s newest single, “Sunset To London,” is a wonderfully written listening experience. The reflective track focuses on escaping from the troubles of everyday life to a nirvana-like destination. In this case, Jane brings us to London, where she found serenity in her time of need. “The song is about running away from your life, responsibilities, and running away from a particular person. Traveling itself has opened my eyes so much, and I wanted to capture that feeling in this song”, says the singer, and capture the feeling she does. This single is a phenomenally engaging piece that reels listeners in and takes them on a voyage of self-discovery as they connect with each note.
Co-written by Jane Honor and Matty Carlock, “Sunset To London” capitalizes perfectly on Honor’s stunning skill set. The lyrics alone foster an empathetic, imaginative vibe that gracefully allows us to feel exactly what the artist is trying to convey. Successfully storytelling through music is no easy task, but the production of this song does so masterfully. The lyrical narrative merges seamlessly with Jane’s soothing voice and a sensational acoustic rhythm. According to Jane, this process had to slightly deviate from tradition. “Me and Matty were set up to write by a mutual friend, and we wrote this over our first zoom session about 1 year ago. The entire process of this one was mostly remote. It was the first time anyone ever asked me what I wanted to write about”, Honor said regarding the song’s conception. She has already established herself as a great writer with her contributions to other artists, but the fact that she was using her personal journey to give life to the heart of this song comes through so clearly and makes the experience that much more genuine for listeners.
