Getting to know Mikayla
If you were a car, what would it be and why?
A Ford F-350 King Ranch! Not for any other reason other than I love them and I love driving a truck! It’s my dream car (well, truck)!
What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?
I would be perfectly happy, and impressed, if my date served up a filet with mashed potatoes on the side.

What makes you nostalgic?
Every time I hear Alan Jackson, I feel nostalgic; my dad and I would listen to his music when we’d drive places together.
Tell us what your ideal partner might look like if you could order one from ‘Partners R Us’.
A tall, lean, brown-haired Cowboy!
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
My coordination; or lack thereof. (LOL)
What’s your most expensive piece of clothing?
I love my cowboy boots, but I’m a “sneaker freak!” My Yeezy sneakers were expensive. While not clothing, my collection of turquoise jewelry ranks right up there.
What’s your favorite board game?
I love to play” Aggravation;” it’s so fun!
What’s your favorite children’s story?
My dad used to read the “Hank The Cowdog” books to me, and I loved them.
What is your creative process?
I am never the person in the room to write the lyrics during a songwriting session; I’m always thinking ahead to the production. I love the creative process to imagine how the song will feel and sound melodically. My favorite part of the recording process is to sit down with my producer to work together to cultivate the entire vibe and aesthetic of the project.
Are you melody driven or lyric driven?
I am definitely melody driven; that is my favorite part of the creative process and what draws me into any song—even as just a fan listening, I’m drawn to the melody and the vibe.
What career path would you take if you were unable to pursue your music career?
If I could not pursue music, I would love to own and work a ranch, or become an interior designer.
What is a venue, to date, where you have performed that is a “dream come true” and why?
Cain’s ballroom in Tulsa is one of my favorite venues. It’s a very historical place and I’ve been blessed to enjoy the opportunity to play the ballroom frequently.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Be true to yourself and don’t change for anyone.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
I really enjoy connecting with, and meeting, new people—making new fans…making new friends.
What does your music say about you?
I hope that when someone hears my music, they hear authenticity, and it takes them down a road to enjoy a western culture.
If we were to look at the artists you are listening to, who would be on your playlist?
My playlist includes Cody Johnson, Corey Kent, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, George Strait, Ian Munsick, Brantley Gilbert, Jaden Hamilton, Aaron Watson, Koe Wetzel, Turnpike Troubadors
What draws you to your preferred genre?
I love the country lifestyle and the country music community
Do you enjoy recording and production?
I absolutely love the recording and production process; that’s when the music comes to life!
Was anyone else involved in writing, recording, or producing the songs?
John Conrad and I co-wrote and co-produced all the tracks on my new EP – MILES FROM NOWHERE.
NEW EP!
Mikayla Lane (Mikayla Lane Entertainment/Tulsa, OK), dubbed “Today’s Traditional Country Trendsetter,” will release her sophomore EP titled, MILES FROM NOWHERE. Featuring four original tunes, the project will be available via all digital retail outlets and streaming platforms (Amazon/iTunes/Pandora Spotify/Tidal) on Friday, September 10, 2021.
Penned and co–produced by the songstress (alongside John Conrad), the EP is the second release since the launch of her music career. The musical compilation embraces the 16-year-old’s three loves: a love for her hometown, her music and her beau. The tracks highlight the young entertainer’s diverse prowess, and embrace a range of smooth melodies complemented by simplistic production and upbeat, powerful vocals. Setting the stage for the recordings, Mikayla introduced the lead single “Wild Like The Wind” which has met with early welcome from streaming platforms, country radio and fans alike.
Sequel tunes: “Come Home,” reveals a young girl’s passion for the road and home, and the tug between the two; “Love You Like I Want To” portrays an unrequited love; while the nostalgic track, “Where The Foxtail Grows,” spotlights a picturesque recollection of Mikayla’s upbringing and southern lifestyle.
