Authentic roots music for the ears of old souls – award-winning songwriter Jonathan Foster is a recording artist and touring musician from Cranberry Lake, New York and Redding, California.

Over the past ten years, he has released five independent studio albums, including his latest Lantern Shade, and has performed over 500 shows and ten U.S. tours spanning the country several times. His sound can be referenced as Folk-Americana with a strong vocal presence woven with imaginative lyrics, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and engaging songs that make you feel at home. Whether he’s in the mountains, the plains, or on a city stage you’ll find this songbird singing.

Ambitious

If you had a magic wand, what would you change in the world?

I would remove all country, state, county, and territory type political lines on every map and erase all memories of them.

Give us some details about a typical day in the life of *YOU*

Coffee, schedule, email and social media checks, listen to the news, snack, take a walk, creative window or drive to a venue, play a show, dinner, glass of wine, bed (wash, rinse, repeat).

What do you think is your greatest success in life?

I have done everything I have ever wanted to do and continue to do.

What are your hidden inspiration sources? How do you generate new ideas?

Things that are new to me: songs, books, hiking trails, foods, documentaries. New ideas always come from these sources as well as having conversations with others about them.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Of course! Take Me to the River by Talking Heads, Water of Love by Dire Straits, and James Brown’s Hot Tub Party

As a kid were you ever frightened of a monster under the bed or in the cupboard?

Yes, after seeing Disney’s Mr. Boogedy in the ’80s lol

If you were a member of the Spice Girls, what would your spice handle be?

Sasquatch Spice

If you were captain of a ship, what would you call it?

Green Eyed Bird

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Melissa McCarthy as “Jonathan Foster the Folk Singer” would make for the funniest movie of the year
