Jax Tonic is an Australian Country Music Singer-songwriter from Sydney. He is quickly gathering a strong following amongst Country Music fans in Australia and worldwide.

What first got you into music?

Watching the La Bamba movie in 1987 when I was 14 years old was the inspiration to start my passion for music. (See the photo attached).

Who inspired you to make music?

I’d have to say the biggest inspiration in my life to make music and write lyrics has been Bono from U2 throughout my earlier years. However, in the last 10 years all I write is country music. My mum used to play a cassette in the car every day we’d drive to school by a singer called Juice Newton, and the song was called ‘Playing with the Queen of Hearts’. I believe this embedded my love for country rock.

What is your creative process like?

I like to sit down in a room with an acoustic guitar, either by myself or in a co-write situation with other people, and just start singing and playing something. I’ll have a pen and paper handy and quickly scribble down the song as it is born into the world, so to speak. It’s a process that is so natural to me. I feel like I was born to do it.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Tyler Hubbard would be my first choice, then Keith Urban second. These guys are incredible, and I kind of think I might actually have a bromance with either of them after the first songwriting session. I’m sure my wife would let me go over their place and write a song any day of the week, even if it was on her birthday!

What are your ambitions as a songwriter and musician from here?

My main focus is to create music that can gain the admiration of my peers and to be relatable to a large demographic of people around the world. Even though I write country music, I want to hear people say they like my music even if they aren’t actually country music fans. I think there is an art to that. I’d also like to keep improving my guitar playing because I love this instrument.

If you could pass on a nugget of wisdom to the next musical generation, what would it be?

Music can be a long path to travel, so keep a day job going to pay your bills. Never ever let go of the dream, practice like crazy and chase that dream… if you really want to be in it!

Jax Tonic This Old Truck

Hot on the heels of his lead out singles, ‘On The Front Foot’, ‘Country Boy’ and ‘The Journey You’ve Had’, Jax Tonic proudly presents his brand new country gem ‘This Old Truck’. Co-written with Ronnie Joudo and produced by Rod Motbey, this is a song that you won’t forget, it is emotive and powerful.

Jax reflects, “Every single person in this world has had something in their life which they never wanted to let go of, something that they loved and adored so much that saying goodbye to this precious thing seemed impossible.”

In his latest single, Jax Tonic has delivered, as he shares his memories of all of the good times that he had in his Old Truck before saying goodbye to his most prized possession. It could have been a truck, a car, a motorbike, a pair of shoes or a person that somebody loved. This song uses a metaphor to take the listener on a journey of imagination.
