Getting to know Alyssa

AlyssaScott

You are a new addition to a crayon box.  What colour would you be and why?

I saw this question and knew this answer immediately. I would be “Wild Evergreen Green”. Like a dark, stormy, sultry, smooth green color. I’m in love with the evergreen color.. it reminds me of the mountains and forestry.

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Definitely Rachel McAdams. She is my favorite actress and I’m obsessed with her movies. I feel like we would have similar mannerisms too where it would probably be a great part for her 🙂

What’s your least favourite personality trait you like about yourself?

I get FOMO bad. I hate missing out on anything, but yet get frustrated if I have something else to do. If anyone is doing anything that could be potentially fun, I want to be there to experience it too! It’s a hard trait.

As a kid were you ever frightened of a monster under the bed or in the cupboard?

I was definitely the kid scaring other kids that there was a monster under the bed. I have always been excited by ghosts or superstitious things… so I would probably be the kid that was talking to the monster under the bed or in the cupboard.

What would be the ideal food to have cooked for you on a date night?

I love hotdogs!! For real, like a fancy hotdog with great topping choices. Sounds simple, but nah hotdogs can get pretty complex. One of my favorite hotdogs out has been Daddy’s Dogs in Nashville. Wow. Impressed.

Who inspired you to make music?

I was inspired at a very young age by multiple people. My mom likes to say I was always singing and dancing since I was a baby. It’s definitely in the blood. My grandparents on my mom’s side were both musical, singing on a radio show together and my grandma played piano. My grandma on my dad’s side used to be a yodeler. They ALL definitely influenced me! As I’m not blood related, I was very influenced by Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Christina Aguilera.

What is your creative process like?

My creative process varies day to day. Usually, morning is my sweet creative spot. Earlier the better (but the hard part is actually getting up), so I’ll lay in bed and write music in my head. When I feel inspired enough, I get up, go sit at the piano and am usually able to write the song in 40 min – hour. I am such a dreamer where my creative process relies heavily on me sitting and dreaming. Things seem to just come into my brain during those times. But now I’m a paid Songwriter which is a little different.. I have to think of things to say on the spot, so that has been a great growth challenge. It’s helped my creative process in opening up new forms.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

My message outreach to fans is my biggest why I do this. I host this Instagram live show every Thursday at 7 pm called Dear Diary and it’s the hour that I’m excited about every week because I hope to inspire and leave them with a message of I’m only human but chose to live this dream as my career. I have had obstacles to overcome in order for me to create music and live my dream and I write my music about that. My biggest message I always try to get through to my fans is LIVE your dream!! I don’t care how old you are, if you’re in a job you’ve been in for years, have a family, don’t know how to do what you want to do… there is a way to do it regardless of ALL that. It’s believing in yourself and your capabilities, and it’s soooo true when people say if you can envision yourself doing that thing, that’s what it will be. You can do whatever you want!

In your opinion, how do artists in this industry stay on top of the game when faced with so much competition? What’s the secret to making yourself noticed?

There is so much media, so many artists trying to do the same thing and it can be tough trying to stay “on top” of it all. It’s so hard to not compare ourselves in the music business. We see a trend in music and we want to write that next song that sounds like that… but before we know it there’s a new trend, new sound, new look… you can’t keep up. So the answer I have found works for me and many artist friends is BE yourself. It may sound silly, but people are looking for someone/something different, always. Being myself even though sometimes hesitant has gotten me further than ANYTHING. When I tried to fit the mold, it didn’t flow, but the moment I said I need to be me and hone my own creativity, that’s when doors opened.

Alyssa Scott Wild

Debuting on Apple Music Country “Best New Songs”, Alyssa Scott has made an anthem for the free spirits, the dreamers and the ones who cannot be tamed with her new single “Wild.” “Wild” is all about running wild and free, becoming the best version of yourself, and leaving behind anything that holds you back. The entire sound of the single sounds wild and free, and paints a picture of a beautiful, wild Mustang running free through the fields

WILD has been a very exciting release for me to get ready for. It’s been in the making a while and I really want to make it count because it’s been a song baby for me.

We also have a music video by the great Matt Bacnis. He’s an incredible videographer along with an amazing team that helped make it happen. It’s going to be an energetic, hopefully, inspiring dance performance filled with a wild spirit. I’m so excited for the world to see it, hear it. It’s going to be fun!
